Amazon.com is by far the best company I've ever dealt with

Let me start by saying I'm usually a pretty tough critic on big companies like this. I hate corporations to begin with, so I have a hard time giving the benefit of the doubt.
That being said, I've been using amazon to order just about anything you can think of over the past year and a half, and I have yet to be disappointed with their customer service, or just business with them in general. Extremely fast shipping (when I order something that's from the amazon warehouse, I get a shipping notification usually 2-4 hours after clicking the order button) If I order before 4 or 5, I usually receive my item the next day, even on 2 day shipping.
Customer service is unbelieveable- I've called in for a number of reasons (returning items, needing a refund for a fee before I became an Amazon Prime member, etc.) and they've always been quick to resolve any issues and issue any necessary credits. Once, I ordered an item on the wrong card, resulting in an overdraft fee from my bank. I ended up needing to return the item for an unrelated reason, and they refunded the money the same day, as soon as they received verification from UPS that I had dropped off the item! Customer service reps are always very friendly and helpful.
I don't know any companies I could recommend with more confidence than these guys!! I can say with confidence I'll be a lifetime Amazon customer, and I'll continue to recommend them to everyone!

How have your guys' experiences been with them? Good? Bad?

Also, I was thinkin the other day that i bet they are a great company to work for, like google. Has anyone or does anyone know someone who's worked there for them? Just curious.

If you apply for a job at Amazon.com's Lehigh Valley shipping hub, be careful. Especially if you're about to quit a different job to work there.

The problem is, some applicants mistakenly think they have jobs with Amazon, and quit other positions, when they don't necessarily have a job at all. The temporary staffing firm helping Amazon recruit workers has acknowledged communication problems with applicants.

My experiences have been neutral-good and reliable mostly But I'm very untrusting of them. Maybe it's just paranoia, but I worry they are a bit like the Walmart of the Web. Could be a dangerous force in business. Idunno, but yeah mostly positive. Even with the "sub vendors" or market place vendors. Never had a problem.
 
I've only had two problems with them. First was buying a textbook from a private seller that tried to scam me. Amazon did resolve it though and get me my money back.

The second is if you have non-Prime account and get the free shipping, my experience is they take a few extra days to send that item out.

But a majority of my experience has been great. I love the site and buy almost everything on it now. Especially since I got an Amazon Prime account. They give students a year for free, and recently my school changed their e-mails so I can sign up for a second year free once mine runs out.

Prime is amazing. $3.99 for overnight shipping is ridiculous. And if you don't want to fork over $3.99 you can choose free Two-Day shipping. Prime is awesome, even if I had to pay the $70 a year I would for it but getting it for free for being a student makes it even sweeter.

I've bought and sold a number of text books through it and have never had a problem with private buyers/sellers except for that one time I got refunded. Especially selling books on Amazon you make back much more than what the book store on campus would give back.

All in all, I love Amazon. I find myself shopping on it more and more.
 
Every time I've used them its been a positive experience. My stuff usually arrives earlier than expected.

I use them and Newegg for excellent delivery times. Newegg stuff arrives earlier than expected too at times.

I just like the overall setup of the site too.
 
Amazon is great; I have made the most out of the free year of Student Prime membership, and I plan to pay the $40 for an actual prime membership once mine runs out. I've also saved close to $1000 on textbooks just for last year's books and my upcoming semester. Can't beat free 2 day shipping either; I've easily paid for a $80 full prime membership with all of the purchases I've made.

Customer support is right up there with Newegg and is second to none. I complained about a few books dropping in price a week after I bought them and I got a refund for the difference. Amazon and Newegg are the only two places that will refund me price drops time and time again.
 
I never dealt with any other online company but them (besides Android market of course). I have no reason to. Ebay is picky, only accepts certain debit cards (not mine). But my experiences with Amazon have all been positive. They make Christmas shopping a breeze, help me save so much money on my anime DVDs, and even when I buy used, I have never had a single problem. Once I thought there was a problem with a used DS (it was user error), and I emailed the seller. He immediately replied, and offered to send my money back, or send me a DSi he had instead. He said I could keep the DS regardless. I emailed him back that I didn't need it, thanks anyway. He definitely got a glowing review from me to add to all the others!
 
I have used Amazon here and there. Never had any issues. I am also very pleased with newegg, though it doesn't take a lot to please me. So long as I am notified within 24 hours of shipment (assuming that this falls on a business day) and any mistakes in packaging are dealt with without me having to spend another cent, I am happy enough.

That said, I tend to buy things online only if they cannot be had locally. online is great, but it is cutting jobs. Even when looking at retail giants like Target, for example, I bet every one job at amazon distribution represents 5-10 jobs in your retail store.
 
You think it's hot in a warehouse.... Hop on the back of a paver when it's 90+ degrees. I don't have much sympathy for this. People need to take some responsibility for their own well being.

I live in KS. I've been in the middle of an unheated tin warehouse in the middle of the summer before. It ain't fun, but it's life sometimes.

Anyway, I love Amazon. I buy just about everything but my groceries from there. I'm a Prime member and think it's well worth the $70 a year. I do almost all my Christmas shopping there every year.

I heard a pundit talking recently and making the argument that with Jobs being gone, that Bezos is arguably the most influential person in tech. Amazon still has tons of room for growth. It's making inroads into the mobile field. It's tablet may be the first iPad competitor. Bezos has just figured out how to make it very, very easy to buy stuff.
 
I like Amazon. And if I wasn't so weary of online transactions to begin with I'd use them a lot more.. (no reason to leave the house really... ;) )
 
Amazon has great service. I bought numerous CDs and electronics from them. My Galaxy S 2 and Cowon J3 were purchased from Amazon as well as the cases for them. They came on time and had the latest software. Can't go wrong with them.
 
The dealings I've had with Amazon have all been good, but the 2 best companies I have ever dealt with are Adorama Camera, and B&H Photo online.
 
My misses doesn't like amazon at the moment.

She signed up to a trial of a service for free next day delivery. After the trial expired it was supposed to be chargeable. She ordered something and it didn't arrive. When she complained, they said she didn't have the service so thought no more of it until a year later when they charged her. They won't refund her without details of the call which is easier said than done.

I have dealt with Amazon since 2002 and have NEVER had a problem with them. I've had to do returns, no problems. I've asked for price difference refund on items purchased in the past 30 days, no problems. My only issue is their free super saver shipping can push 2 weeks lately (10 business days). They quote 5 to 8 business days. Hey, it's free shipping though, plus no sales tax!
 
I'm the weary/skeptical type. I only do online shopping on sites that have brick and mortar stores. My ex had bad dealing with ebay and I have never really looked at C2C purchasing the same.

Curious for Returns/Refunds do you have to pay for it or does Amazon?
 
B&H and Adorama do have good reputations. They sell used and clearance items and so far, everything I've bought has been as listed. They are both extremely quick with RMAs - usually the rep sends one by return mail.

Both stores are run by Orthodox people, and both warn that there is no service from sundown on Fri, until sundown on Sat. Or Holidays. So you don't get customer service or anything then. But they WILL call on Sundays as soon as the store opens.

I'd deal with brick and mortar, but Wolf Camera is limited in town, and so is the other good camera store. If I want something for a Panasonic zoom camera, they usually don't have it since they are not Panasonic vendors. I do not like Best Buy.

With Amazon, it can depend. Some items are on contracted sellers, and the sellers can set the terms (I think) Amazon itself isn't too bad. They do business with the above mentioned camera stores, and even though independents are on Amazon, B&H and Adorama will follow their return features.

I can also list a few telescope companies that are extremely good.
 
Having an interesting situation with Amazon. I'm a prime member and I ordered a video game from them which was eligible for release-day delivery. Needless to say, they sent me an email at like 4 AM EST stating that they are apologizing for the delayed message, but the product will be shipped. Have heard nothing from them since and their CSR's aren't exactly being helpful. I have no tracking # yet and they don't even know if it left their warehouse late last night/early this morning.

EDIT: Called back and ended up getting my money back for the product, plus an additional $15 certificate towards my next purchase. Pwnsauce.
 
oh **** yea I use Amazon for everything! It's amazing. Except I use newegg for computer related stuff.

I have free Amazon Prime shipping - normally it is 75 bucks a month but I just use EDU emails and get it for free.

So you receive everything within 3 days which is awesome.

Everything is always in good condition and CS is the shit.

Hoody hoo Amazon. Even returns are easy and prices are unbeatable.
 
I have had great experiences with them also never a problem but in due to me being in Canada shipping times do vary a tiny bit here on amazon.ca. Yet its the same I have never had a problem at all with them. ncix.com has been great up here in Canada for me also fast shipping no problems at all. They do sell android phones too.
 
I have free Amazon Prime because i'm a student and I've always received everything on time except for weather delays (which was UPS's fault). Other than that, they are great.
 
Yeah, Amazon is excellent. I prefer uncompressed CDs over .mp3 music. I've bought dozens of new and used CDs and DVDs mostly from Amazon affiliates. Amazon holds these affiliates to VERY HIGH standards. With one exception every seller I've dealt with has gotten a 5 star rating. Every used cd (very good or like new only) has been exactly as described. Most very good I would have rated like new. I've been so impressed with affiliate reliability I sent Amazon an email commending them on their standards insistence. Plus they don't charge until the seller sends a shipping notification (appreciated with the one exception). And a thumbs up to Newegg too. Bought a few speakers and lots of computer parts from them over the years. I use B&H for camera equipment. Would have ordered from them yesterday but they are closed next week for religious observance and I didn't want to wait 10+ days.

BTW the one Amazon exception was a new seller with no ratings. Thought I'd be nice and get them started. Instead they earned a review that will ensure no one else orders from them. 2 weeks with no shipment or replies to my emails.
 
im not a fan of the site design of amazon. its lacks alot of useful info from its sellers. amazon is great if u kno EXACTLY wat ur looking for. i honestly dont kno how theyre so successful with a site designed like that.

but if ur jus searching trying to see wat ur options are its not a very informative site. where it lacks ebay really does a much better job in their design
