Ambient light sensor? Does it work?

The specs listed on various sites and pictures of the Optimus F3 seem to indicate that it has an ambient light sensor, but the post quoted below (bolding mine) indicates that it may not work properly. Is this the case?

my unprofessional comparison (to the samsung victory)/first impressions

LG is seems kind of alot smaller and lighter even though its only small differences

LG camera takes pictures much faster, but seem slightly worse clarity

cannot common on battery life yet - expecting better with the lg

the F3 aprears to have light sensor, but theres no option for auto-brightness that ive found yet?

samsungs lcd vs LGs IPS lcd - dont notice any +/- right now

F3 FEELS faster and more responsive right now, loading apps, texting fast etc..

wish the F3's center button was softkey

F3 has no camera button, not sure if this will annoy me yet..

STILL CANT EASILY TAKE SCREEN SHOT LIKE I COULD WITH MY EVO V!!!

It doesn't have one. It has a ff camera and a proximity sensor on the front. The built-in notification toggles work great though for quickly changing briteness. Imo, its not really missed.

If you're worried about losing functionality due to lack of a sensor? Lux from the play store is free, works better than any included software and will use the camera lens if no sensor is available. Google should just buy Lux and replace the default light sensor software with it, it's so much superior to anything found stock on an android phone.

why is there two visable sensors of some sort on the front if you look at it in light? i know one at least is a proximity sensor bit you can see two "eyes" if you look at the front under light and no i dont mean the front cam

i dont really miss it either and i usually had if shut off on my other phones, just curious though

Your right! I never noticed there where 2 little "eyes" in there. Creepy! Someone is watching... I suppose it helps to get a facial ID before the drone locks onto the phone to make it's strike.

you guys are right. I just took a flashlight and pointed at proximity sensor, and you can see there are 2 sensors. Maybe its just one, but who knows

Maybe it's that deal that detects yours eyes looking at it an keeps screen on. I remember something popped up one time saying something like that.

its a battery kill LUX.

it will constantly be using the camera lens, not good

i considered that too, but i figured it used the camera for that. too bad LG doesnt monitor these boards, maybe they could chime in and clear it up. stuff like this is not really important to me or bother me, im just really curious

if im right, android software is already always using your front camera, and doesnt seem to effect battery life, maybe that lux software sux. maybe android 4.1 just turns the cam on for a second every few seconds to try to "see" your eyes.
