Root Amoled v slcd

So I was looking at the incredible list website and came across the fact that some incredible users have one of two screens. So I am running CyanogenMod Nightly 31 and purchased my DINC one month ago. How do I know which screen I have?

go to phone settings and hardware version i believe, 002 should be amoled and 003 is slcd...i think that's how it goes

Copied over from another site:

A majority of the devices out there are AMOLED; however, if you recently purchased a new Incredible in the last couple of months, it may be SLCD. To check:

  1. Remove the battery from the device.
  2. Underneath the bluetooth and FC icon, you should see "ADR6300VW."
  3. If you see a "3" at the end (ADR6300VW3) then it is SLCD.
If you do not, then it is AMOLED.

Just depends. I had two AMOLEDs (both had to be replaced for reboot loops, but thats a different story) and while I enjoyed the deeper blacks, the other colors were way over-saturated and the text was noticeably less crisp compared to the SLCD I have now. Neither screen is good in sunlight, and if the SLCD is better, it is only marginally so. Some people swear by the AMOLED screen, but I much prefer the SLCD.

Switch was April 29th 2010 actually, but, every now an again something thats been in a warehouse for a year pops up in a store. I like my older AMOLED in a side by side, the change to SLCD was at first considered more of a downgrade to meet producton needs, though it has its merrits. Personally I enjoy the rich blacks of AMOLED.

looking here for a friend so I can root his incredible for him

I have the Epic and its got the SAMOLED screen and I love it over my EVO that I have except for the screen is slightly smaller thats the only problem, but the blacks are great
