An app that locks screen during call?

Today I accidently hung up someone 3 times when I was talking to them because my cheek kept hitting the END button during the call! What's up with that??? Is there an app that can lock the screen while I am on a call so this doesn't happen again?

your phone SHOULD turn the screen off when you put it up to your face. There's a proximity sensor just to the left of the speaker. If it doesn't, you might have a defective one? Do you have a screen protector? These sometimes interfere with the proximity sensor. Also, you can just tap the power button to turn the screen off while on a call.

happened to my wife's droid all of the time.. i think she uses "screen suite" in the market (i'll check later). sucks, but back when we were trying to figure it out, i read a ton of posts of the same issues.

My wife first droid had a proximity sensor defect so we returned it. Try calling your voicemail and take your thumb and cover the proximity sensor that's located in the top left corner of your droid. If the screen doesn't turn off, then you got a defective droid. return that sucker.

i checked, and it is an app called "Screen Suite Lockscreen".. its actually 1.99 in the market now, so there is probably a better free solution in the app market... don't remember paying that!

Try Tedd's Droid Tools!

The app is great and I've been using it for months. It essentially "locks" slash blocks the screen during your calls and prevents you from ending the call, etc with your cheek ...must have app for Moto Droid imo

it's also free (forgot to mention that)...

yes, it should. but if you're out of warranty or bought it off of ebay or somewhere, you'll need another option. we bought my wife's from ebay and it does have the proximity sensor issue, so a screen lock app is the best we can do to work w/ it... everything else about the phone was fine.

Maybe I'm weird, I'd rather just tap the power button once than have an app running to do the same. But you raise a valid point, I hadn't considered being out of warranty/no insurance/etc.
