Ok as the title says lets see if we can keep a fairly accurate accounting of where evdo is working, and aprox speeds.

Jax FL seems uncapped 900kb/s down Though it is not always available depending on where in town you are.
Tampa, looks like no at this time. Update, close to the water, maybe just one tower has evdo.
Orlando Fl Had uncapped but possibly capped around 200kb/s
Cocoa FL No evdo as of yet.
Kissimmee FL evdo, unknown if capped though.
Apopka, FL capped, but possibly part of the orlando network.
This seems to extend out to ormond beach
Lakeland Fl evdo probably Capped?
Surrounding areas of Lakeland, evdo but capped it looks like.
SWFL Naples area no evdo as of yet.

Atlanta GA No known evdo.
Miami, no evdo
Dallas TX possibly capped.
Detroit Mi, Not looking like any change yet.

LA CA Possible evdo no speed results yet.
SF & Sacramento Possible evdo no speed results yet.

Stockton CA and Surrounding, Capped evdo

Riverside CA Sporatic evdo, possible rollout happening now

It's here in Dallas, TX; but like you said it's capped. I can't seem to get speeds above 200 kbps. It's also spotty.

Another advantage I have found with this new evdo in jax, the ip put me in jax NO longer does the IP say im in TX

I was getting that as well, but when I would run speed tests, it said my nearest server was in Wichita, KS.

How do you check whether there is evdo or not in those areas? Can you please check if there is evdo in homestead, FL?

if you check your phone find out if you have prl 3020, if you do and you get the 3g icon you have evdo however I think your close to miami and miami does not have it, at this time.

Quick update. Stockton, CA has capped EDVO access.

Was at my job there today (I live in Rocklin) and got 3g symbol all day there. It was capped at about 150-180 but everything ran much smoother and way faster. Even with the cap it ran apps much better because of the newer technology.

We went to Manteca, CA and they also have 3g. Didn't go any further but the signal was full in Manteca so i would assume it went a little bit further also.

Apopka is Orlando cause I live in Apopka. But yesterday I was all the way out in Ormond beach (about 40miles from Orlando) and had spotty 3g coverage.

I am south of Lakeland (just outside Mulberry) and stuck on PRL 3019 CDMA - 1xRTT. I will be in Lakeland proper tomorrow and see if I can update to 3020.

OK, update. Tried to update the PRL via *228 and only got PRL 3019. Manually updated to PRL 3020 and got the 3G symbol, speed tests are (and I am in a REALLY bad reception area):

no signal bars, 3G = download 88 kbps upload 23 kbps
no signal bars, 1xRTT = download 56 kbps upload 18 kbps
1 signal bar, 3G = download 193 kbps upload 43 kbps

So, the result? 3G in the Mulberry area, er, I think...lol

In SW FL (Naples - Ft Myers area)
*228 no 3020 PRL.

Manually updated to 3020, still 1x.
LTEOFF force mode to 3G, no service whatsoever.

Specifically in Naples (where I Live), with 1x so far, speed test.net shows 124kbps Down and 139kbps upload, constant. Which is not bad, but weeee wanttt 3G!

This is constant thoughout the day

I guess we're just waiting as well. Will keep thread updated!

We're one of the markets getting LTE soon, so I dont know how or even if.. we are gonna get 3G down here but really hopeful.

this is just my opinion but by the trend this 3G is following, South Florida (Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Homestead, Naples, etc) should be getting 3G by next week. It seems the rest of the country has been getting it these past 2 weeks.

3g sign came up 3 times for a couple of seconds Tampa by the airport prl 3020 updated 2 days ago.

It looks like Lakeland, FL has 3G but capped at 200 kbps. Incidently I was in Land O' Lakes (just north of Tampa, FL) this afternoon and TOTALLY lost all signal using evdo, no 3G there, I had to revert back to CDMA to get a signal.

i live in cocoa,fl just updated to the new 3020 and no 3g as of yet, maybe if I step outside ill get a better signal, my phone service its self sucks here so maybe that will help

For all you miami guys I'm sorry just read some bad news.

Not to say they wont change their minds later though.

Dallas, North Florida and Sacramento anticipate turning on EVDO in certain parts of their networks this Friday. We will enable access on handsets in a phased manner (pushed from the network, i.e., no user or support intervention will be required), so not all devices that are EVDO capable will immediately gain access. We do not have a timeline set for the completion of the push, but will provide updates as we progress.

As communicated earlier, MetroPCS is deploying EVDO in certain markets this year to address the rapid growth in CDMA Android sales.

EVDO will increase our network’s capacity to support more CDMA users; it is not designed to provide increased data rates.

An FAQ document has been created to help you address questions you might receive from customers once they see the “EV” or “EVDO” indicator on their phone.
