And here comes a monkey wrench...

Don't think it was inevitable. If anything, I think bringing back unlimited plans would be more likely. Sprint offers it on their WiMax service, and Verizon will be offering it with their LTE service. There's no reason this should not run in line with what is the current business standard. Especially when this is technically still 3G.

Verizon will not be offering it on LTE. New tier pricing will launch q2

All you fools talking about unlimited on.verizon must not have seen the memo with their new 4g prices all tiered no unlimited. They only allowed unlimited for the iphone on a temp basis

You can still get over 2gb plans however. That's my main point/problem. I need something greater than 2gb, as the only place I have wifi is my house, and I am out a lot.

Here's there LTE pricing for now then the tiered phone pricing to come soon

Droid-Life is saying that 4G LTE smartphone data may still cost $30 a month, which is the same rate as the carrier’s 3G smartphone data plan. The other option that Droid-Life is hearing would be a $45 data plan for 4G LTE, which would mean a $15 premium for 4G data. That strategy would not be bad as Sprint had initially tacked on a $10 premium for 4G WiMax smartphones when the carrier had launched the Sprint HTC EVO 4G.

I'd rather pay 25 and be capped at 2g than pay $45 for 4G LTE unlimited. That is ridiculous.

I am also curious about this 5G data plan for combined accounts thats 55 bucks. If so thats "doable" as that would be 25 for the 1 phone and 20 for the second. One phone uses about 300mg a month (the girl friend) so that wold still give me about 5200mg for myself.....which is respectable for around $25.

Marc..

CAN YOU CONFIRM???

Edited for: Ill let Andrea fight his own battle here..

My post just was saying we were ALL told that by someone ELSE in this forum (about sideloading in airplane mode)...ill dig up the post if need be.

That sucks. I wish we could just simply opt-out and stay with 3G speeds in order to keep our unlimited. Oh well, at least I don't come close to 2GB of usage per month, so i likely wouldn't even notice the change any time soon. And while I don't care much for 4G, I'd rather give up my unlimited than be stuck with the god awful Captivate.

This point is valid I mean if we all look at our data how many if us use more than 2Gb if data

Just got off the phone with ATT customer service, I was told that I could keep my unlimited data plan with HTC Inspire, she annotated it in the computer, she first had to go speak to a manager. I told her about the Android Central article and how att customers were wanting this phone, and know they are wanting to goto verizon for the Thunderbolt, hold for a minute sir. ............. Sir you can keep the unlimited plan with the HTC, thank you and have a great day.

See what I mean? You don't even know what the hell side downloading apps means! You can find apps in the marketplace that AT&T hides by turning off data and using wifi, but that is not side downloading an application. Side downloading an app is installing one that is NOT in the market. Turning off airplane mode WILL NOT HELP YOU SIDE DOWNLOAD! Try learning what the hell you are talking about. The only way to side download it to use Android Central's wonder machine...why the hell do you think they made the damn thing? Wouldn't be much need for it if you can just put the device in airplane mode. Still cannot believe you have the balls to call others fools.

Hey genius yes I do know what it means why don't you go look at the link I posted from XDA and see. Also fools was a general statement so why are you getting all twisted

Well see I have no beef with you, you didn't call anyone a fool. However, just because someone tells you something doesn't make it true. It's not hard to understand why airplane mode and side downloading ahve nothing to do with each other.

But like I said I have no issue with you....you didn't presume to call anyone a fool like Andrea did....when he doesn't even read my post or know what the heck he's talking about.

I wouldn't put too much stock in this. I called customer service 2 weeks ago. I said, "I was on my online account and it says I can upgrade on May 12. I want to get the inspire on Feb 13th. How much will my penalty be?" Their response was 18 dollars. I said "Are you sure?" They said yes.

I knew that was not right, so I called back the next day, and they said she was wrong. It would be $200 if I wanted to get the Inspire on Feb 13th.

Bottom line. Most customer service reps have no idea what the real rules are.

Advice taken, when I call to order, I will surly let them know that I have no problem dropping them for another carrier for the same phone, if you know what I mean.

I've been with AT&T sice they were Cingular...I'm going to be calling them to cancel my service when I go 4G and I'm sure they are going to ask why. I'm simply going to tell them that I have a grandfathered unlimited data plan and that if they don't see fit to honor it I see no reason to stay with them. I'd rather pay for metered data with another carrier and that if they think they are going to take my unlimited data, I'm going to take my money elsewhere. AT&T is not going to get metered data out of me...period.

Just got off the phone with ATT and they said that I would be able to keep my unlimited data plan that I have currently on my iphone 4. I guess we'll see on Sunday as I pre-ordered from RS. So far everyone I've spoken to, (RS, ATT rep at RS and ATT customer service) have told me the same thing.

See I'm concerned iPhone users are going to get special treatment(not that I begrudge you unlimited data, I think you deserve it:)) But I'm on an old blackberry unlimited data plan and I'm not so sure I'll be able to keep it if I move to 4G. Right now AT&T is hypersensitive of losing iPhone users to Verizon.

To be fair..i ALSO saw it published from a reliable source that the Verizon unlimited plan was TEMPORARY promotional offer only as well.

I think it was Engadget or something but you may want to check into it before you break off a 6+ year buisness relationship with AT&T and end up Verizon only to find out theirs was a promotional also.

I have been with both. Verizons customer service is not even worth of being in the same discussion with AT&Ts.

I wont cuss you out or anything for ignoring the advice..but i will hate it for you having to possibly find out the hard way and end up with one of those forehad slap moments.

Back on topc....Family Data plan???

Anyone? Anyone? Bueler???

Was Deleted but there is some important info there that needs to be discussed.

Mainly...Marc mentioned that there is a family data plan??? 5G for $55.

I want info about that

Also...i DID also see it confirmed that The verizon unlimited plan was most likely temporary promotional only. I cant remember where but i could probably do a search if someone wants to see that.

I wanna know about this as well! Anyone have any hard info?

I'd be willing to pay $45 for unlimited data on AT&T, MAYBE. But it would have to be REAL 4G...I'm not paying a premium for faux 4G
