Android 2.1 - Any new apps and widgets?

Hi,

Got my upgrade last night. Seems quick, has new google maps, but otherwise
seems very similar?

I was expecting the phone to have lots of new widgets and the market to be
full of new apps.

Am I missing something?

* sorry for another 2.1 thread, but didn't seem to fit anywhere else.
 
You should see lot of apps in Market which you couldn't see before because they are marked for Android 2.1 and higher. One example would be Google Goggles.

Sky News App is very nice.
Google Goggles looks interesting, but not sure I'll find much use for it.

Anyone else found some good new Apps?
 
Thick Buttons - new keyboard. Still test driving it but like it so far.

Kindle for Android - wouldn't read a whole book on my Hero (or iPad if I had one!) but it is a nice supplement to my Kindle e-ink reader.

tricorder (geeky i know but its fun)

Android 2.1 installed on hero,but non of the app which has something to do with voice recognition work because google voice recognition haven't installed ,i can't find it in market,any suggestion?
 
is it gonna be possible to run some 3d games which I can't with the 1.6?? or that depends on the hardware capabilities alone??
 
all i did was try a few how to's from other forums including the desire and legend, trial and error lol but a cpl works.

Not sure if this is it but try

menu -> settings > Text-to-speech

then select to install voice data.

I did this and it seems to have done the trick for me.

For some reason HTC haven't put the speech to text files on the hero update. However there is an app in the market called "Uber keyboard" that installs the required files and puts an option to use speech to text on pretty much anything you would normally type in (email, text messages, twitter... etc)

It's a handy app, you can try it for free for about 7 days or something, but if it does what you want i think the full version is under $2 anyway. Which would have seemed like a bargain if you didn't already know that it should have been on there for free. Haha
 
How do I know if I have 2.1 installed on my Hero?
I had my phone for 18 months, then last week it broke so Orange sent me a new on and I have only had it for 3 days now.
Also I dont know much about the phone , love it though
 
Can Dolphin Browser (old ver 2.5) coexist with Dolphin Browser HD on the hero?
I do not want to upgrade the old Dolphin Browser because of the possibility to download YouTube videos.
