Alright guys there is still some hope in the realm of 2.1. I did some researching and found this. No set date, but it may help set minds at peace.

Thank you for the link. Whenever it comes, it comes. Until then, if you want it sooner, I guess your choice is to root. I'll just wait; I haven't seen any "must-have" features that I can't live without.

i'm probably completely wrong in what i'm about to say below but...i thought 2.1 was supposed to be an update for ALL android phones. i thought it was gonna be released simultaneously or somewhat simultaneous across all networks when its available. also, don't they have to tweak it so that 2.1 works properly for each phone? the one rooted right now for the DROID is using N1's rom right? so its not optimized properly for the droid, or any other phones. i dunno, i'm probably wrong about all of this.

Unless anyone is able to post any concrete proof that an Official update is set for a certain date, it will become useless continuing spreading the rumor that an update is coming today, tomorrow or in the near future.

As for locking that other thread, yes I locked it and will do the same to this one for reasons I just stated above.
