Android 2.1 Update

OMG! Enough with the 2.1 speculation crap!

The next thread I want to see on 2.1 is "I woke up and I have live wallpapers!!"

Anyone with root questioning if you will get OTA's, the answer is YES. If you have flashed certain custom ROM's then you won't get it, or if you have renamed/deleted otacerts.zip.

ANYONE WHO WANTS TO KEEP ROOT should not do the 2.1 OTA because it will fix the root exploit we have. The bug was fixed in the source tree a day after it was discovered so don't think that you can just use the same root procedure after getting this 2.1 update, it wont work anymore. You need to wait for a dev to grab the OTA and fix it up so you can keep root.

My wife got a new Eris Yesterday and last night got some sort of update also but version number never changed. Not sure about Kernel. I never got it on my droid but I downloaded the latest facebook app from the market a few weeks ago. Haven't had any problems.

I didn't recieve an OTA anything. 10 minutes ago I checked my facebook version it was rev 111, went to the market downloaded rev 112. Installed fine. Did not have to relog into facebook. Now manage applications reports I am running 112.

No worries brother this just means you did not need the update and you are all good :)
 
ok probably dumb question, but i didn't do the OTA update for 2.0.1. i downloaded the update and installed manually. is that considered rooting? will i still get the new 2.1 OTA?

I woke up and have live wallpapers!! In fact, Ive been waking up and having live wallpapers for the past two weeks. :D
