My current build is ESD56 and I have had no OTA updates.

same for me

ESD56 here too, no update, but able to manually update FB

Same for me as the above 3.

+111111111 sweeterhome is tha cat's a*s!!:D

I kinda liked it, but I simply don't have the time to customize it the way I really want to - I think that a 2.1 leaked ROM on my phone my be the better way to go....

I rooted my phone a looong time ago, which is stupid easy and very safe, assuming you follow instructions, and there is a way to go back to non-rooted stock version if you are worried. The 5 extra homescreen hack for the 2.0.1 Launcher is great, as is the ported over 2.1 Launcher (I love this one to death).

The desktop apps aren't even worth the money.

No incompatibilities. The only apps that I've tried that don't work on 2.1 on my rooted Droid are ones that didn't work in 2.0.x anyway. Furthermore, most of the ones compatible for the Droid are compatible for the Nexus One (reasoning below).

Both 2.0.x and 2.1 are considered "Eclair" so outside of a few changes in the apps (keyboard, gallery, launcher, etc) I don't think they work very differently; I'd go as far as to say that 2.0.x was a mere beta for the "true" Eclair release that is 2.1. Furthermore, the Droid and the N1 have very similar screen resolutions, so that obstacle is heavily mitigated for developers trying to maintain cross-device compatibility.

Yeah, been meaning to do so, but I haven't gotten around to it....

Seeing as the 22 is only a day away, and since CPercodani says root before getting the OTA update, I probably should, sometime really really soon, eh?

Word has it that it is ESD59, but I haven't seen an official confirmation yet....

At least, not from a user here in these forums - but then again, I have like 500 new posts to wade through, so.... :P

Those who got this interim update in the last few days, at least the ones who's posts I read, were saying there was no change in any of the version numbers...still ESD56 after the update.

FWIW - I haven't read anything yet that indicates that everyone is going to get this interim - it was sounding like it was a fix for some phones that had gotten a version of the 2.01 update needed fixing.

Not trying to thread jack but, Where in the heck do you guys get all these custom APK's????? Like all the APK's for 2.1? Where can I find them?

I am getting a signature verification failed error and it will not update, any ideas as to what needs to be done to correct that?

Do we have to rename this file to update.apk instead of zip? then get it to our sd cards and install from a file browser such as astro or blackmoon like i use?I have regular 2.01 but i added the new 2.1 gallery which i love, but nothing else. I agree i do not use the apps that you cut out of this new install, and i have always wanted youtube to always view in high quality and for my dock to be less bright at night.IM very tempted to go ahead and install this.

So i tried this, i moved it to my sd card and renamed it to update.apk and im getting an error saying "there is a problem parsing the package"

Leave it as update.zip- copy it to the root of the SD card.

Shut down your Droid, then hold X on the hard keyboard while powering up until you see the triangle with the exclamation point inside. Then push the volume up+cxamera buttons at the same time. A menu will pop up. Use the D-pad to select apply Sd card update.zip. Press the center d-pad button....wait for the update to install, then select reboot now.

Done:D

Very well put, thanks. Last question is will all my settings stay the same , all my apps, home replacements, gallery2.1. I am aware this will remove the things mentioned in the initail post which i am ok with.

With the "stock" update(which I ran)- yes. Not too sure with the modified version from the OP.

Ok last question, you said move the update.zip to the root section of the sd card. I just dragged it to my sd card, but i know there is a folder named root, im not sure how to get it inside that folder. Im trying to mark the update.zip and move it to a destination but when i do that i get 3 options, overwrite files and folders, keep both copies, do nothing. Or do i just keep it where it is setting on the sd card and repeat your process above?Im sorry im a semi noob, not into rooting and much changing, but i would like to learn more.

Now that i followed the help, im getting the same error as you are.

The root of the SD card means the opening folder(not indise any of the folders contained in the SD card.

If you are getting a signature error, try re-downloading the update.zip and replacing it on the sd card. Again, I'm not sure of the modified update, as I ran the stock one a few posts down in this thread.

no dice, tried downloading directly to phone and using astro to move it to the main folder and also downloading through pc and dropping it in the sd, both times same error.

i am waiting for whatever! dunno whats going to happen but this seems like it was a facebook update plus any other bugs that were with droids that just had BUGS! mine has had none so i did not get it, may not. not worried

I got no update....I did download and install the facebook 112 version from the market and it installed with no errors...stumped.

Maybe the person who modified this and posted this message could chime in? It sounded good, although im not sure what does he mean by optimized?

This update.zip probably isn't working because you have a stock recovery. You might need sprecovery to flash a unsigned zip which this is because it has been modified. Try the ORIGINAL unmodified one from the other poster.

downloaded it yesterday early afternoon ....the facebook update that is.

phone is rooted...which is why i'm thinking I didn't get the OTA update?

Here's what's slated for Jan. 22:

- Exchange Active Sync E-Mail: Personal folders and sub-folders will be nested, instead of the same level.
- Exchange Active Sync Calendar: Will be able to edit recurring appointments with large invite lists without force-closing issues.
- Exchange Active Sync E-Mail: Will be able to accept calendar appointments received via email.
- Exchange Acrive Sync/Google Mail: Will support, not just picture attachments, but other types of attachments will be supported.
- Contact Transfer: Contacts will be able to be transferred via Bluetooth.

Other than the Facebook fix, can those who got their OTA already see if the above is the case? Can you now do these things? I know not everyone is using exchange. Let us know!

I don't think this is it, I can't speak for all of those features, but I know I have been able to transfer my contacts over bluetooth since I got my phone (January 1st).
