Help Android 2.2 froyo and not getting gmail, how is that possible?

I am really trying to like Android...it does much more than my blackberry...but the things my blackberry did...it did easily

I have a brand New HTC Evo and I am not receiving gmail...unless i open the gmail application and manually hit the refresh key.

How can an android phone not push gmail? Insane

Please help...this is a deal breaker for me if i can't fix!!!

HTC Evo...gmail is a google apps account (not sure if that matters)
 
Did you go to accounts and sync? In settings and make sure that mail is checked under Google settings
 
I am a newbie...how do i do a hard reset?

I have 2.2 froyo...i looked at settings and i do have it marked to auto sync gmail, calendar and contacts


However not only does gmail not notifiy me when i have an email....i have to go into the gmail app on the phone and do a "refresh" for it to go out and get mail.

I do NOT understand how this is possible....this is an android device..and google apps gmail is not working?

my email is - firstname@FirstnameLastName.com

Please any help would be great.....otherwise it is back to blackberry
 
I'm having same problem, except with my secondary account. My main gmail account is syncing and pushing email perfectly, my 2nd account doesn't push email even though the settings are both the same. Using 2.2 unrooted.
