Android 2.2 [Froyo] Bugs and Questions - Post em Here

I'm having the same problems...I hear a lot of people having problems...what I'm not seeing is Android/Motorola/Verizon doing or saying anything about it...I'm going through three batteries a day with very light use. Is there a set of apps that are causing the problem (I've removed Facebook, Skype, taskkillers, and most...but not all...things that are hunting for status and new info. I still have locale going. I guess if I take them all off, the battery would live...but then why have the phone in the first place...I like it because of the apps.

This is true, but task killers will destroy the phone over time. I have found some apps will require data use. These are the killers of batteries. My biggest saver was getting rid of weather channel app and google voice. This is why the OS works so much, is keeping them online. My battery lasts all day now. You need to go through and find apps that may require automatic updates.

Also, if you keep wi-Fi on and you're not near a wi-fi point, the phone uses a ton of energy constantly searching for wi-fi sources.

I've read that the GPS will suck a battery, but only if you're running an app that uses it (like Facebook, Locale, etc.). It will especially drain the battery if you're inside and the GPS is constantly searching for satellites.

I only turn on wi-fi when I am looking for service, and I don't use the location option with it.

The other thing I'm noticing is that I'm not even using the phone, and it is pretty warm right now.

I want to say that my whole calendar system is F'd......I have a calendar widget and that is F'd too. Any suggestions......FC's

So, Verizon replaced my battery for me yesterday under warranty...

Not really much difference. I didn't think it was the battery. I got about an extra hour out of it. Does the battery need to be charged a couple of times before it will get its full charge capabilities?

This is getting frustrating.

That means the processor is working hard, so something in your phone is running, and that's what's eating up battery.

As I said above, if I leave wi-fi on when I'm not near a wi-fi point, my phone will get warm as the processor keeps looking for a wi-fi point. Also, if I'm in the middle of a building where there's a weak phone signal, the phone will get warm as it constantly is looking for a cell signal.

Anyone else having an issue with their stock messenger? When I go to click on a new received text message it will either open that one or the last one on the screen. It kind of gets annoying when it starts to do it all the time. But is anyone else having that problem too?

Yeah, sometimes when I tap a conversation it will go to one that I didn't hit. I have no clue why it does that though...

So my battery life has not really improved since they replaced the battery for me last week.

Here is my battery use so far today (in the red already)
7h 36m

Android OS 32%
Phone Idle 15%
email 12%
cell standby 11%
Display 10%
Android system 9%
Voice calls 5%
Browser 3%
Dialer 2%
TextPlus 2%
android.process.acore 2%

Breakdown of the Android OS:
CPU Total 27m 40s
Data sent 10.51kb
Data received 191.51kb

batter is almost dead already today and I've hardly used the phone

Stock updated 2.2 on my Droid. I've been plagued with the 'slow icon refresh' launcher problem since the update, but recently I've gotten a new issue - sometimes, on the home screen, the icons have no text under them. The images themselves are offset down a little. The text in the 'News and Weather' widget is similarly offset down to the point where the temperature is clipped.

Launching an app and coming back is sometimes enought to reset it...

Figured out my problem was either ebay or paypal app... was removing apps in order of most recently added and battery drain stopped after removing those. Haven't tried re-adding either, so I don't know which was the culprit, or if it was because of settings on one of them.

If you use or install several keyboards or "input devices", the "text" settings you make in Settings > Language & Keyboard > will not be saved through reboots.

So, for example, I use Inserty and have 3 keyboards installed: stock, Smart Keyboard, Multi-touch. In Settings > Language & Keyboard you can check or uncheck which input devices you actually want to use. Why this matters? if your like me and have 4 possible methods, when you long press in a text box to select your input style, it gets a bit annoying to have to check which of the 4 I want. So, in Settings > Language & Keyboard you can uncheck methods you no longer want to be presented. So, I just select Inserty and Smart Keyboard and that way, when I long press, I am only given the 2 choices so less confusing and faster selecting.

However, if you make this effort to refine your settings and reboot, these settings - what you checked and unchecked - will be lost and all input methods will be back to being checked as "on" after a reboot. Thus, you have to make this setting every single time after you reboot.

I recently upgraded my Acer Liquid E to Foyo (I am on Rogers) - no problem. Battery life is better. Speed seems improved. I am not certain if it is related, but now when I am in the gallery and I click "share", it crashes immediately and I get the "force close" message.

I cannot keep Sound selected to Normal. It defaults to Silent everytime I go to home page. I'm losing calls because this phone always puts itself in the Silent mode. How can I keep it in Normal mode? Send answer to my email: bj90@att.net

Ok, I am double posting this because no answer yet but does anyone know how to sync picasa with the droid 2. I read somewhere it is a problem with the gallery as it is a motoblur gallery and not android. How can i fix the problem. When I had the original droid this was one a my favorite features and now I cant use it.
