Just spoke with someone out in NJ who has the N1 and he got the update this morning. Engadget confirms the update - I don't think it will be more than a month or so before the Droid, Incredible and EVO receive updates as well, this is great news.
Android 2.2's Froyo goodness hitting the Nexus One already? (update: confirmed!) -- Engadget
Does this mean that Nexus one will be the first phone to get future Android updates forever?
sprint may have a horrible track record, but the evo is their new flagship, so everyone will be watching. If they update slower than other carriers, than they will once again bleed customers.
It's just called good business. It is the next high end Android phone that is coming out. They make money on these sales even if Sprint never releases an update. If google didn't have some confidence in them, they wouldn't have promoted their phone.
It's weird that everyone was expecting Google to "fix" the fragmentation, yet they announced nothing related to that at Google I/O.
How exactly is Froyo supposed to fix fragmentation?
