Ok so i have been wait patiently for Verizon to push the Android 2.2 update to my phone and so far nothing has happened. Please tell me if Verizon has pushed the update to your phone and tell me how it is. Thanks!

That process will have the same exact result as waiting for the OTA update (same exact file that will be pushed to your phone). I hear some people are having battery issues, but that might also be to do with the Facebook app update.

If this somehow causes problems for your phone, then getting the OTA update would cause exactly the same problems. This is no different from waiting for the OTA file except there is no waiting.
That being said, there's a more up to date build from Motorola floating around and supposedly they've stopped updating OTA so maybe there is some sort of bug they are trying to fix.

Well whoever already got the original 2.2 build (FRG01B) should get the new one (FRG22) pushed to them if they start putting it OTA and everyone else will just go straight from 2.1 (ESE81) to FRG22 or whatever it ends up being. They might make another revision and a new build number, not sure yet.
Either way, FRG01B is an official release and was sent OTA to people. That file you would be downloaded was captured by someone when they received the OTA notification.
I'm rooted and never plan to go back to stock so I can't comment on how good the build is.

Trident said that you need to be at Update 1 first in order to get Update 2! I suggest that you manually install update 1 from the link that Larry R. Found and then wait for the OTA Update 2 to get released into the wild and then download Update 2 from the Official Google Source (As soon as we know what it is). The Official Google Source for Update 1 has now been leaked all over the place including even PC World (thanks to Larry R.)!

i just force-installed the 2.2 from the sticky thread, and so far so good. phone is noticeably faster. still working on installing the Flash 10.1 beta. how do you install the .apk file?

To install the APK you need something like Astro File Manager, thats what I used. Make sure you have the install from unknown locations in the settings menu. Just tap it in Astro and it will take you to manage apps where you can install it.
Download it directly to your phone, and then go to notificactions and click on download complete. After you finish installing Adobe Flash 10.1 Beta 3, go download adobe flash showcase from the App Gallery. You will see that it is working if your download and install was successfull.

thanks that got me where i needed, but now i get an error "could not open /sdcard/download/com.adobe.flashplayer-1.apk as APK file" message
It installed just fine 4 me without Astro. All I did was goto notifications on the home screen main menu and clicked on download complete. It then asked me if I wanted to install the download. I clicked yes.

when i do it that way, it says "parse error: there is a problem parsing the package."

I had to post that even I, a total nube, managed to do the manual download / update. I was a bit nervous, as I have never done anything like that to my phone. It was on the "red eye" screen for what seemed like forever, and I was worried, but it ultimately rebooted and I'm definitely running 2.2 now. I also downloaded the Flash player. Following up on earlier posts above -- going to the 'notifications' screen didn't work for me; so I went to the download itself (in the download director) and clicked on it, and was prompted to "install" the application, which I selected, and it installed fine. I also grabbed the "Adobe flash showcase" from the marketplace, and it installed and runs fine.
NOTE: I had to use the Google link to install; clicking the link for "update.zip" does not work, as Megadownload took it down as allegedly violating the terms of use. Make sure you download into your sdcard root directory (not a subdirectory) and be sure to rename the file "update.zip," as the directions tell you to. Also, when you download the Flash player, you will have to use Megadownload and unless you want to pay for premium service, you'll have to wait 35 seconds. Be patient and wait for the free download button to appear.
Only issue so far -- I had a live wallpaper running (3d party), and until I disabled it, the phone was jerky and slow (I even had the latest update on that installed, which purported to be updated for Froyo). I won't besmirch the developer by naming the app, b/c I'm hoping he'll fix it as it was my favorite all-time wallpaper.
So, that's it for me for now. My main reasons for posting are to: (1) encourage even total nubes to try this; and (2) tell my fellow nubes not to worry if the "red eye" seems to be on forever.

One more quick post -- I noticed that nstallion commented that some are having battery issues. I noticed that, after doing all of this, my battery was sucked about to about 1/4 life (after being fully charged). It's on the dock now; don't know yet if I'm having any continuing battery issues. If anyone goes this route, make sure your phone is fully charged first, so you don't run out of juice mid-way through.
