Help Android 2.2 problems for the Nexus One (post them here)

I just upgraded to Nexus one with 2.2 Froyo. The issue I noticed if I go to any forums and try to type in "search this thread" or "search this forum" the onscreen keyboard disappears before I can type anything. It does it in landscape and portrait modes. I tried both Swype and Original Nexus keyboard and they bothe behave the same way. Is there any solution to this, has anyone else had similar problems?
Thanks

Hi Guys!!

This is my first post so please be gentle.

I just updated my Nexus to Froyo manually last night from EPE54B to FRF85B. It all went well for the most part until earlier today I noticed my gallery wasn't working properly. It takes anywhere from 10 to 30 seconds to load, and it was working fine last night after the install. Not even going through the camera application made it load any faster.

For a little while my Music app wouldn't show any of my music, but that fixed itself after a reboot.

Google Goggles force closed about 5 times before it would actually let me take a picture. Maybe that has something to do with it as everything started freaking out after that incident.

I have rebooted several times with no success. Is it possible to reinstall the update? What all does a hard reset do?

Any other suggestions?

I haven't updated to FroYo yet but I'll see if I have an idea (gotta wait for the kang o rama/cyanogen build :3)

Download an app called SDcard rescan or something like that (I can't remember the name). You may need to reboot afterwards but it might do the trick.

Angry people strung out about battery life - can someone post what is using all of the power and let me see that?

Can't say as that's happening to me. What happens if you re-tap in the search input? Will it re-open again for typing?

Hey I just got the Frf85b ota and now the flash for the camera is off. Like its not synced with the shutter. Any ideas?

EDIT: I tried several other camera apps on teh market and they all have the same problem.

Hi Jnugg,

Have you tried to do a factory reset?

Not sure if this is really a solution for you but you can also unlock your bootloader and flash it with your specific 2.1 build or reflash it with Froyo.

The two major problems i've had with froyo so far is increased freezes (forcing me to remove battery to restart), and i've had a bunch of problems with the gallery force closing :(

Ive heard of froyo unlocking more internal memory. Mine still showing 196mb of internal mmemory. I waited till the update got pushed to my n1

Yeah, I thought the same too. Still 196mb of internal memory. 2.2 did open up more of the unused RAM memory fwiw.

So yesterday, my Nexus was quite bad...I had half a dozen times where the sreen froze for over 5 seconds and after every freeze, an app would crash. The thing was, these were mostly stock apps, like browser, SMS messanger, and contact as well as 3rd party apps. I have never had a stock apps crashed on me before. This is the first time something like this has happened. Not sure if I should start ringing the alarm bell.

Wow, I'd find that pretty worrying. Have you tried the clear cache thing after updating? My N1 was kinda wonky after the update and I've actually had to do my first ever battery pull then, but after clearing the caches it's been fairly stable.

It only froze once or twice, after which it fast reboots. But that was due to flash I think... I'm sorry to report that flash really isn't that stable here and can be enriching to my web browsing experience as well as diminish it. I notice trouble when flash playback is still going and I try to navigate or close the browser, flash sometimes just keeps going (I still hear the sound, albeit a bit chopped up) after which my phone will probably freeze. Also, my browser won't close properly and gobble up over 100mb of ram, being pretty cpu-active as a background process.
I only notice these things when I've been interacting with flash elements.

No FC after that post but at that time I was afraid I had to do a battery pull a couple of times when Nexus FC on me. Though I have done more battery pulls after 2.2 than before. I cleared my cache after my updated to FRF91 but Nexus still acts up.

Well if you've had no more FC's after that maybe a glitch just snuk into your Nexus.. how long has it been since you had rebooted.
Call Linux as stable and glitch resilient as you want but I still think it's best to reboot at least once a week or your system can get a bit funky. In my case at least..

For example: it had been a day or 4-5 since my last boot when yesterday I noticed little quirks. 8/10 times it would take like 5 seconds from sliding the unlock bar to actually displaying my home screens. Apps that where normally smooth as butter would sometimes also lag for a sec or 5 in the simplest menu commands. Half a day later my nexus crashed and fast rebooted, everything was honky dory (or how do you say that:p) after.

Does letting your phone die to charge the same as booting it? lol...I mean I have to turn it on when it's done/or charging.

Oh I have noticed the unlock screen getting all non responsive at times too!!! I kind of blame it on my widget locker app though :/

Man am I the only one posting my 2.2 issues still, lol.

So another funny glitch that happened yesterday. I called my friend and when she picked up all I heard was static. Like the worst radio frequency static on a phone call EVER. I couldn't make sense of what she was saying at all. She said it was clear on her end. Other phone calls during the night, my friends complained that the couldn't hear my clearly :( I have data enabled turned off as I don't use 3G...I'm wondering if this is causing the radio to act all funny. But I have 2G only...so I don't really think it should make much of a difference would it? My BT was horrible last night too.

Using the car dock now drops the volume and sound quality coming from the stereo jack.

I think the car dock is a little quirky, even before FroYo. With my car dock, I have noticed if I have the volume on my phone turned up all the way before I connect the phone to the dock, then then volume controls on the dock work great. However, if I forget and have the phone at a lesser than full volume before I connect it to the dock, it seems the dock sets its maximum volume to whatever the phone was at the time it was connected. I can adjust lower, but not higher.

let me start off by saying that i was very excited about getting froyo... after i got the update i was still excited but just a bit dissappointed at the same time. I don't know if some of you are having this problem(s) but when im texting and when i go in and out of it, it takes a good second to load, me and my girlfriend are having the same issue. Also the battery is getting drained a bit faster then usual, and its true whay they are saying that for no reason apps just open by themselves even after i kill them. Overall its still a good upgrade i guess i just expected a bit more.

I have an HTC Incredible and it's rooted.with Android 2.2....my problem is every time I try to use my.video.camera my phone locks up then resets

Hi, I received my 2.2 update yesterday and since then have had nothing but problems :(

My phone has become very slow when moving through the menu's and especially when typing. I can be typing away and the text is 2 or 3 seconds behind on the display. The internet explorer keeps force closing too, it must have done this 5 or 6 times since yesterday afternoon. Anyone know what's going off?

PS I have a HTC Desire if it makes any differance.

I don't remember when I did the update to 2.2 but my phone keeps freezing and I have to take out the battery to get it to unfreeze. Sometimes it happens only once a day, other times its more.

i don't know what the deal is, it sounds like a programming issue with the software, but I don't know how to fix it, or if there is something I can do to correct the issue, or should I go back to the 2.1 version until the problem is corrected with a new update?

I haven't noticed any of the other issues that have been mentioned, only the freezing and I never had a problem with that before.

Ever since I upgraded, the messaging has been all out of whack. for instance, the phone randomly sends messages intended for one person to anyone in my inbox. also the other day I was having a conversation with someone and it just started switching my contacts info around. I don't know if this is an upgrade issue or a bug I might have acquired elsewhere, but it started right after upgrading. any insight would be helpful.
