New to Android. Just got the captivate a couple days ago and just rooted the phone. How, if available, can I upgrade to 2.2?

Read, read, read. :) You can't yet. There is no 2.2 ROM for the Captivate yet. Either wait for one, or wait for the official Samsung 2.2 upgrade later this year.
