so I've read over the last two days that the galaxy s can have gingerbread on it and that xda developers have released some versions of it, but I've read that it is v2.3 (but called ginger bread all the same) then I read another article that it's 3.0. so I'm understanding that gingerbread is 3.0, so why do some call it 2.3?
also, what are the benefits of updating to gingerbread? what might be the drawbacks? (app compatibility?)
and finally, I think I read that samsung is planning to roll out an update to gingerbread too, so is it worth rooting to update for the average user our should we just wait on samsung?
