Android 2.3 & 4.0 WiFi Internet HD 1080P HDMI Google TV Box ARM Cortex A9 Firmware

Thats your problem right there! please read the FAQ and the forum thread! WINDOWS XP ONLY!!! can't say it any more clearly! WINDOWS XP ONLY!!!!

I managed to spreparowć SD card. What was needed was a computer running Windows XP.:)
But unfortunately I can not urucomić uploading new firmware process
"10) Keep pushing reset button behind the box, using toothpick or smth similar, plug in power TV box and when red light will blink 3 times, let reset button free. Upgrading will start, red light stays on, blue light blinking, procedure takes some minutes."

The blue LED is lit, do not blink!

Now what? What should I do?:mad::mad:

.... so what?
can be something to do with my problem or not?

also, stane1983, i am still having trouble with wifi dropping signal...i tried other drivers, but it would appear in yer 0621 firmware that the driver is much smaller in size than other versions...the 8192.ko file is only 592k. where other versions are 7.2 and 8.4MB..and logcat/dmesg says that it can't load the 8192.ko module because it is looking for a 'version 2.6.34 vplay' and only finds a 'version 2.6.34'. but the bug in the wifi seems to be power management related. if i use any wifi app (veetle/vplay networking) that is high bandwidth, the connection meter will start losing signal bars and finally have no bars left. but the connection doesn't drop, it just says connected and does nothing. no signal bars. there is a corresponding logcat entry about power management service no being able to do something. i'll make a log of it if you are still here listening.

Well, keep cool and don't be so disappointed, solution will be found, soon or later.
Are you sure that creation of recovery SDcard was successful?
Make format SD card, creat again recovery sd card using XP machine, slowly and step by step and try to use mediafire firmware to upgrade, in the beginning of this trhead.
I believe somehow you do smth wrong.

it is correct.
but I can not run under my ATV108 uploading new firmware.
Not blinking blue LED (turn correctly: hold down the "reset" and connect the power supply) - here's the problem!

Is SD recovery card inserted already before plug in power supply?
After you connect power supply, red light blinks three times?
Disfunction of reset button possibly?

Is SD recovery card inserted already before plug in power supply? - YES !
After you connect power supply, red light blinks three times? - NO !
Disfunction of reset button possibly? - Check again, but it sure is good

My AVT-108 broke up when uploading new firmware.
badly beat two files (the size of 0 bytes).
And when uploading new firmware error occurred.
After reboot, now nothing works!

UPDATE: wifi bug is a strange combination of factors. only really happens with 802.11N networks. 802.11N standards are set as follows:

802.11n, WPA2/AES, 20Mhz channels, WMM Enabled, greenfield mode if there are no other routers or devices on same channel.

if you deviate from these settings for 802.11N in your router even the slightest bit, wifi will drop on atv-108 06212012 stane ICS. adhere to those settings and set router to a channel so it doesn't change while working. pick an open channel! use 'wifi analyzer' from google play store.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.farproc.wifi.analyzer&hl=en

this is the best program ever for visualizing wifi networks! i think that the driver for the 8192cu wifi card inside the atv-108 is very strict as far as 802.11N standards go. so make sure to use these settings for your 802.11N router and all should be well! and very fast too! now that i think about it, if the channel on your wifi changed while using it, and the driver weren't set correctly to change with it, then the connection would lose signal but not really drop! this may be the problem i've been having with my wifi! Stane1983, when yer feeling better, take a look at the kernel driver for wifi and channel changing. i think there is a bug there.

UPDATE: so with the new settings on my router, my connection drops allot less, but it still drops. sort of. the signal level goes down, then logcat says it loses dhcpd connection and then after about a minute it reconnects itself and is good again. but anything streaming stops in that time and has to be restarted..

Hello,
This week I received "Google TV Box Android 4.0 ARM Cortex A9 WiFi HD 1080P HDMI Internet TV Box with Remote DDR III 512M 4GB+Flash+3D", I believe it's the same one we are talking in this thread.

CPU: Amlogic-8726M3 Cortex A9 CPU Max.1.2GHz
Model: VissonTech MBS 2.0 board
Brand: MBX
Name, device board: f16ref
ATV-108 rev 2, as I understand from above specs.
Video playback is terrible, constantly pausing with sound getting out of synchronization.

Vendor sent me updated firmware, it helped in general performance, but not in video playback.
----

This thread is long and hard to follow, at least confusing to me, sorry.
What should I do? What is the recommended mod/rom or firmware as of today? Sorry and thanks for your help. :flowers:

V-Play download section

you want the version at bottom of page dated 06252012. that is newest best firmware for atv-108 f16ref which i believe is what you have. start there and use a sd card. not sdhc. and small too. 1gb sd card should do the trick.

you may want to get devicechecker.apk from the vplay site first. it will tell you what kind of device it is.

Wow, thanks for your quick answer!
It worked great. It gave me an error of already written mac address, but upon reboot it worked correctly and does have good video playback! Thanks.

that error is normal. happens to all of us. there are issues with this firmware as well. but video playback is great!

WIFI BUG UPDATE: so after tons of trial and error and checking logs, issue has to be with wifi driver. numerous routers, different settings and they all drop connection. or at least drop signal bars until there is no connection left, then turning off wifi and back on restores connection til it happens again! this is frustrating! i think imma go buy a roku! none of my settings changes have fixed this! i wonder if i have a defective wifi card? it works most of the time and worked great on other firmwares...but not this one, stane1983's 06212012 c03ref.

grindinonyourm, I'm wondering if you are building custom kernel for ATV-108 rev 2, if yes could you please add CP210x module in next build or share sources and build steps with us ?

btw. is firmware upgrade possible from usb memory stick ?

You're asking wrong man :)

I'm really sorry for my absence in last few days from the forum, but I'm not feeling well and cannot track all questions you guys have.

Just a short note:

Do not install my firmware on c03ref ATV-101!!!

yer kidding right? making a rom is a PITA! stane is compiling from source code..so yes, he is building the kernel from sources.

i'm asking because, couldn't find all modules form my stock config.gz in cyanogenmod kernel sources also cannot find them on google ...

btw. is it normal that android on about page shows kernel 3.08 (shouldn't it be 3.0.8), but `uname -a` from command line shows 2.6.34 ?

... and it is very hard to become Amlogic partner and I cannot share sources with anyone because my company signed contracts with them because that would mean violation of contract...

OK, no problem ... so could you please add CP210x (as a module or build in) in next build ? I would be very grateful!

All Amlogic kernel sources are officially on 2.6.34. I don't know why they are forcing it to display 3.x on About page, but I never did and never will...

If you are looking for M1 platform kernel, take a look here and if you are looking for M3 platform kernel, it's also public, released by Amlogic, just google for it.

OK, "Amlogic" was the missing keyword. I googled theirs kernel sources, downloaded them but it seams that there isn no source for modules:
CONFIG_AML_NFTL=m
CONFIG_RTL8XXX_CU_USB_WIFI=m
CONFIG_UMP=m
CONFIG_MALI=m
without them I my Module.symvers will be different then stock one and because of that my module won't be loaded.

Any hints ?

btw. I discovered that on ICS.MBX.20120614 usb host notification doesn't work (this is part of standard android 4.0 api)

EDIT:
I finally found meson 3 kernel with all needed sources, THANKS stane1983!!

Is there really no one can help me!?
so many times is asking and no one can find solutions
-----
So again I ask the

- When uploading new firmware error - two files have been badly lost 0 bytes.
- I turned off my ATV-108 and turned on again - do not want to start anything, I can start uploading new firmware mode (push the "reset" switch on the power, and nothing, the LEDs light continuously) I tried in every way
- No picture
- Prepare the SD card using SDTOOL under Windows XP does not have anything
-----
- Is able to upload new firmware different?
- How do I do?
-----
Please help the mic
-----
best, have a nice day: Wlodek

Just sent you PM....

Hi stane,

Yep, already ordered it, and it's in the customs now....

I got the DVB-T USB stick, metioned this tread, so everything is ready to your great fw....I'd like to make a nice hybrid set top box, with ICS, Skype, DVB-T, timeshift, recording, EPG etc. I know it is possible....

csab.

Hi,
my fw works on Visson products only for now, I don't think anyone tested it against Geniatech.

Drivers available trough v4l of 2.6.34 kernel are included and should work (including Geniatech DVB-T stick mentioned in this thread), except I haven't found any proper dvb-t application for android. On V-Play download section you can find DroidTV which is in very early stage of development, just POC, but if proves that DVB is working on ICS (tested with Pinnacle 73e usb stick).

All webcams compatible with v4l should work. Some of them will work with native Camera app, some of them will not, but all should work with Skype eg. I myself tested it against Logitech C170, both camera and built-in microphone work in skype.

And yeah, fw with more dvb support i mentioned above is not released yet, I'm fixing some bugs yet, but if you plan to order your Visson, just do it, it will be released when your box arrives :)

UPDATE: Don't test it against Geniatech, I don't think that it is same reference board.... you may brick your device
