Android 2.3.4 Set For Mid September

I don't understand how you guys are saying it took too long to come out. If anything it was rushed out to beat the other LTE phones to the market. I suppose you must have got your phone after the MR2 update and didn't get the chance to observe HTC's failure of an excuse for a working phone with the MR1 update. It was the FIRST LTE phone on the market so being dated upon release sounds like BS to me.

bahaha. ^^this was when i decided to root. MR1 smurfed over my bolt. Battery drained in hours, reboots, and FC!

Actually the HTC Evo 4G was the first 4G phone on the market. Get it straight, why else would the Tbolt be rushed out if it didn't have any other 4G phones to beat?

Oh yeah I completely forgot about the LTE version of the EVO

It was rushed out to be the first LTE phone which I am sure I have already said, yep I did and you quoted it. Yes I failed to put 4G anywhere in my post earlier because it had nothing to do with 4G in general. The EVO had been out for 9 months before the TB was released so it was not rushed to compete with the EVO. Please read my post before you correct me

well said. it was the first LTE phone on VZW's network. LTE took 4g to a whole new level- it was not intended to compete with the evo or other plain 4g sprint phones.

as far as it being dated,i disagree with that statement as well. it took several months after its intended release date to finally appear,so maybe it wasnt as "ahead of its time" as it would have been if it had come out in november when it was sposed to. but when it was released,it was hardly "dated"

it has more internal memory, and more RAM than the other LTE phones, and has a better camera than the revolution. it is,IMO,the best 4g phone vzw has right now,and will remain so until the bionic and vigor are released.

Since I'm starting a chain of reviews soon I'm inclined to test the official release. There is no reason the Tbolt can't run the sense 3.0 lockscreen or the weather widgets.

the TB can and does run sense 3.0,but as was said youll have to get root to get it. the OTA will have the same sense 2.1 youve allready got. if your phone updated without you knowing, youd prolly not recognize it was even different ;)

as yeahha said,HTC has never updated a sense version on an existing device. they upgrade android to satisfy google and customer demand, but they cleverly save new sense versions for new devices.

the vigor will have sense 3.5  and when the source code for that is release,us rooted TB owners will be enjoying it as well :D

Couple people in the Droid Incredible forum already got their Gingerbread. Do we have to wait for the DInc rollout to finish before they start ours?

sorry youre having trouble. i have had zero if the issues others have had. no random reboots, good gps lock, fastastic data connection now that RIL has been worked out pretty well for AOSP roms. maybe has something do do with bein rooted from day 1? :D

i wouldnt buy another moto, even if they do start unlocking bootloaders. htc phones in my experinece are solid and take alot of abuse. only thing id even consider ditching my TB for is the vigor.

its easy to return to stock for warranty claims, those staying stock for that reason are missing out... just my 2 cents.

last and not least,i cannot WAIT for all those that have been waiting so diligently on froyo to get the marvelous, mysterious GB update :D
I don't root because I don't think I understand it well enough to take a chance on effing up the only phone I have.

That is a good reason not to ;)

I have to give you a hard time however :D we have a very active root community here at AF and if you are smart enough to learn then you are smart enough to root and enjoy the freedom of actually taking full control of your phone.

If you can't learn or are just too busy to bother and you have better things to do with life other than think about your phone ( I hear those people exist somewhere ;)) then not rooting is a perfect albeit boring way to enjoy Android.

If you are the type person who can't follow any directions however many times they are spelled out for you over and over then you should have an iPhone ( oh yes I did)
^^just kidding LOL

I can't get it on Rom manager
well, then it must not really exist!

Really? Slayher is now working on a different device so there is no TB representation that I am aware of within CM currently.

slayher did switch carriers, and may be developing for whatever on his new carrier, but he has stated that he still has his phone and TB development will not stop. we just may not see an update for awhile because he has a big move and will have minimum to no free time.

Yeah I know the 1.7 update was the last for a while. I thought he said he would still dev for the bolt but didn't feel like trying to find it out while posting.

Really? CM7 has been available for ages http://androidforums.com/thunderbolt-all-things-root/352952-cm7-rc1-7-a.html It is in RC status but working fully, you have to do a GPS fix but that is just an AOSP thing. Slayher is now working on a different device so there is no TB representation that I am aware of within CM currently.

I've tried CM7, OMGB and ShiftAOSP all without having to do the GPS fix (I think I've been lucky). My personal favorite is ShiftAOSP.
AOSP is great but I find myself going back to Sense roms every now and then. Currently running ShiftSense 1.4 and loving it.

Why bother even giving us the GB update if Ice Cream Sandwhich is going to be coming out Oct/November, just wait and give us that.

Whew glad we will see an update at some point.... Wonder if it will be before ics comes to us? :-)
Shame another developer wasn't also contributing to the rom :-(

After Google releases ICS, then HTC will have to skin it with Sense (well, I suppose they don't *have* to, but they will), which will take months, and then VZW gets to add their crapware, which also takes months. We won't see ICS on the TB before next summer.

so after talking with HTC and VZW the htc tech rep told me the planned to have GB for the TB to be released in SEPT but he said here we are in SEPT and still have no ETA and then dont forget the extensive testing that VZW does b4 they release it so I say If we get GB which we will we wont have it till i say late OCT early NOV and for us getting a offical ICS i highly doubt we will wish we would but doubt it but hey i have more faith in the devs to get it to us then VZW
