Sprint isn't gonna abandon the 3d is what he is saying. The Evo 4g started with 2.1, then 2.2 then 3.0 so why wouldnt we get updates. and he believes around christmas

Exactly, the evo 4g was the first phone to officially get froyo after the nexus so I don't see the 3vo getting left behind at all.

Besides - HTC on Sprint has yet to show any cases for issues holding back updates. In fact - quite the contrary (except for when they decided to de-rate the Hero from 2.2 - and that was a 2009 phone, limited tech, and Android 2.2+ wasn't on the horizon at design time).
