I'm sure i'm jumping the gun as some milestone users aren't even on 2.2 yet but with the Nexus S being right around the corner and i'm sure all kind of dev crews cranking things out (like 2.3 Keyboard), anyone have a guess on when a 2.3 rom will surface for the milestone? and when a 2.3 rom is available for the Droid will we be able to use that? if not do we need some sort of milestone specific rom? (currently running 2.2 by GOT)

but 2.3 there isnt much change and it runs pretty light
what about an Overclocked milestone? surely it could handle gingerbread?

2.3 can be run on 550 Mhz CPU, and it also have smoother scrolling than 2.1 :-D

I can hack milestone if someone already crack the bootloader
now we're getting somewhere. i was under the impression the bootloader was already "cracked"? GOT gave us froyo. didn't they have to crack the bootloader for that?

Not a clue if this is what you want, but I've been running a 2.3 CM7 ROM for a while now. (http://android.doshaska.net/cm7)
It still runs on the 2.2 kernel but it has all (I think) of the Gingerbread features. The dude keeps updating it with small improvements and bug fixes all the time. Really good so far
