Help Android 2.3?

Just curious, will the device be able to upgrade to Android 2.3 once it's released?
Thanks.

Depends on what color and material of socks the people at Samsung are wearing when they decide what phones they are going to support. At this point it looks like the support of this phone is going to be non-existent, but again should they put on silky socks one day and their feet are feeling nice and sexy, they may surprise us.

[EDIT] In other words - roll a 20 sided die and if you are lucky to land on the right number, they will add the 2.3 support. Don't get me wrong though, I have seen them update MetroPCS Samsung phones. The Samsung Code for example has the Windows Mobile 6.5 update available to it (official for that matter!), where as it shipped with 6.1 .

well... in the past, as soon as the # of people with this phones reaches X, they would start laying out software, support, updates, etc. Possibly just weren't ready in time and the phone was so expensive the first 2 months before the rebate that very few of us bought it anyway...

ROFL

Hey I got some cool new electronics to sell you, just dont ask me to support it or put out any updates until enough people buy it to make me millions of dollars.

(i should make a product to sell and start doing this)

Customer: this thing is crap!
Me: sorry sir but your just going to have to wait, i have no idea when I will have made a million bucks from the phones and cant make any speculation on an estimated time.

My money is on Mike, ShabbyPenguin, et al to root the phone and come up with a custom ROM, and NOT on Samsung to get around to doing anything... Once the phone is rooted, then we can base the custom ROM on 2.3 (or whatever is out at that time), correct?

That would be correct. And as an added bonus, we won't have to deal with bloat/crapware removal, nor hidden features/menus...
