Android 4.0 (ICS) - when?

By the sound of the @VodafoneUK Twitter account it'll be today

yesterday they weren't giving anything away, but today they're sure it won't be long....

fingers hurting from being crossed for 24 hours now....

Everything is working perfectly now, I flashed the firmware again but this time used another modem file, download speeds back upto around 3-4Mb now on giffgaff.

Other than the dodgy lockscreen everything is great.

You will have to manually update by downloading the files when they come online.

Sammobile have the official firmwares but the XEU (UK) Version isnt online yet.

Orange needs time to add their crap ware and make sure its as annoying as it possibly can be... So it may take a while!

If you are willing to take the risk, without any Rooting etc you can just install stock ICS S2 ROM using Odin3. I did and got rid of the orange crap. Happy days!

Where can you download the stock ICS S2 ROM from?

How do you update via Odin? I've used it for rooting my SGS2 but obviously not for an upgrade like this. Is it just a new PDA ROM? (UK unbranded, XEU)

Ive been running 4.0.3 for a little over a week. Have not had any crashes or major problems yet. It is definately faster than 2.2 My only problem seems to be with the connection, and not sure if it is generic to the SGS2. on my old blackberry 9360 it showed wifi and 3g connections at the same time, and ran on wichever was faster. if one signal dropped, the other would take over. with the sgs2 it seems its either one or the other, not both can run. either you have to turn off the wifi and run at 3g or leav it on and run with that. Also on the old 2.2 seems that HSPA+ was a constand now its just 3g.

sorry about this question..but..

If i install the ICS in my s2 with Odin, will I need to install all my prograns and games again? Like Windows Format??

Sorry my bad english

I have the same firmware version: S2: PDA:KI4 / PHONE:KI1 / CSC:KH2(XEU)

Can somebody tell me why the update for ics was made available by samsung on 19/03/12 in the uk but it is not online for update via kies? how can they release the update but not via the main way in which people would update their phone? afaik odin is not really avialable from samsung directly meaning that it is not something that the average user would use so how can samsung class that as releasing the update?

Anyone know when it is likely to appear on kies? If I use odin will that end up voiding the warranty (technically)?

Sorry to basically answer my own question but other users may find this helpful, found this on another forum:
After this I phoned Samsung Technical Support and spoke to a galaxy phone specialist. For the first time I didn't get the standard response which is something like
'Galaxy S2 upgrades will be subject to each network’s own software approvals process'
He said that the software was being released in batches to open market version phones depending on their software version and that by this Friday all open market phones should be able to update via Kies.

I am not desperate to have ICS but I hate not knowing what is going on! The Samsung announcement said ICS would be released during the week commencing 19th March. Tomorrow is the end of the week

I suggested that someone in Samsung should post this information on their website, twitter feed etc

XEU apparantly shows that it is open europe as opposed to just the uk which may be why no ics has appeared on kies.

Friday morning, unbranded phone and still no update in the UK. I'm really disappointed in Samsung.

Can anyone with an unbranded phone in other markets tell me when theirs was released compared to the carriers?

Samsung have said that their UK release of ICS for unbranded phones will, "commence the week beginning the 19th March". By my reckoning, they still have 2 days left until the end of the week on Sunday.

Different carriers have different release dates in different locations. 3 has already released ICS for the UK, ahead of the unbranded release. Other carriers are expected to release in the next few weeks.

Yeah I know i'm being impatient, but I half expected the mighty Apple slaying Samsung to pull their finger out and really impress their SGS2 owners. Still, let's see what happens over the weekend though.

I can't believe that 3 was the first though. They are the worst of the networks. They must have some strong negotiators on their payroll though!

Or... maybe Samsung, after their release to certain countries on the 13th March, are busy correcting some of the faults that have come to light since then... before their UK release! ;)

Maybe I am pessimistic but now 3's version of ICS has rolled in the week commencing 19th March, this means that Samsung has fulfilled its announcement as it didn't promise to release versions for unbranded phones during this week, Unbranded phones may not get the update for weeks.
