Help Android 4.1.2 very slow - downgrade or custom rom?

nambis

Lurker
Android 4.1.2. is ultra slow and laggy on my Nexus S. I've done the factory reset and have a limited number of apps installed, but it's still really slow when trying to use the browser or google maps or whatever. I'm wondering if anyone else with 4.1.2 has these same issues on their Nexus S? Also, would it be possible to downgrade or install a custom rom to overcome these issues?

I have cm-10.1.0-RC3 based on 4.2.2 and is also very slow.
In a few days I will install cm-10.1.2 and I hope it will be more stabe and with less crashing apps

I have been having the same problem, and it seems to be getting worse. When it gets really laggy, I go into the running apps in system settings and kill some that I am not using. I also uninstalled Swiftkey, which I love to use, and now use the stock keyboard. I am upgrading next week to either a N4 or Note 2. The phone is old and has had a good life!
