Android 4.4 is making itself look like Lollipop?

A couple of weeks ago I bought a Moto X 2nd Gen aware that the lollipop update is available for it. However instead of receiving the update, android 4.4 is just beginning to mimic the look of lollipop. If I try to update the phone it tells me "Software is up to date" even though I'm still on KitKat. Does anybody know the reason behind this? I'm new to android so I'm sorry if it's an obvious answer.

If your device tells you it's up to date, then it is! When a device is due an OS update, it doesn't happen all at once. The roll-outs occur over different locations at different times. It may also be that your OS is adapted by your carrier so that could also delay its roll-out.
Enjoy your phone:)
