so i installed kit kat, and one of the things mentioned was that it's supposed to make the battery efficient, and yet i can't seem to put the note to "sleep". there's a video of advertising constantly playing and the only time i can stop it running is when i have to completely shut off the note. does anyone have this issue and know how to fix it? thanks!

It is clearly not supposed to do this. Examining the nature of the advertising might give you a clue as to what is behind this obviously aberrant behaviour.

I have upgraded to 4.4.3, and have had no problems. Except I lost root on my 10.1 2014. But i died again and it's working fine.

Don't do it, apps will disappear, things will not work right and Samsung Tech Support has no clue how to fix it, or how it works.

Care to elaborate on this? You have 11 total posts, 9 of which are asking about how not to upgrade to 4.4 or telling people not to because of issues. You've provided no background as to WHY, or what exactly will happen.

WHAT apps will disappear? WHAT won't work right? Are there wide-spread reports of those issues or is this anecdotal from ONE friend?

BTW, my Note 10.1 2014 AND my Moto X are both on 4.4.2 and are running just fine, though both upgraded to KK as soon as I unboxed them and got them on the network. The updates on both went well but I can't compare the app list from before the update because I didn't really use either. What I CAN say is that in reading forums like this one I don't see too many reports (if any besides yours) of apps disappearing during the update.

"Disappearing" apps after an upgrade isn't unheard of, but not overly common either.

There is the potential that they disappear as a result of incompatibility with the upgrade. In which case, you'd need to speak with the devs about what they're doing to bring their apps up to date.

There's also the possibility that the apps in question are system apps and they weren't included with the new OS (there's very little you can do about that).

Regarding other update issues, more often than not they can be resolved with a factory reset. Whilst this details another OS & Device, it will ring true for all devices and Major updates: http://androidforums.com/htc-one-x-xl/666917-jb-update-issues-factory-resets-please-read.html

There is also the possibility that the update itself is corrupt/buggy, in which case, you'd need to wait for Samsung to fix.

I upgraded shortly after the update came out. My Note now feels snappier, no apps disappeared, no problems surfaced, Samsung Tech Support didn't need to help because nothing went wrong.

I have also upgraded my S4 to 4.4 and I haven't had any problems with that either.

Which of your apps disappeared? What didn't work?
