Android buttons light up on pen actions

I have a strange problem with my GN8:
When I am using pen, the android buttons light up for a moment when I move pen close to the screen (and a small circle appears).
It is extremely annoying in a dimly lit room and I would like to turn this feature off, but cannot find how.

What do you mean by "android buttons"? The small circle is an indicator of where you are pointing the s-pen.

"Android buttons" which are below the screen. "Menu" and "Return" on both sides of the roundish "home" button.

Small circle is controlled by "Air view" switch in settings. No problem here.

But I cannot find how to control back-light for "menu" and "return" buttons.

Oh, the capacitive buttons. I've never seen them referred to as android buttons before.

This is the path to turn off:

Menu Button>Settings>Display>Scroll down to More Settings>Touch Key Light Duration>Always Off
