Android Carrier Update

Hi all.
I have a question for you guys:

I heard that firmware updates to all android phones are sent by carriers.Ok.
I buyed my phone from an Vodafone RO shop, locked.I played with the phone a few days without Sim while waiting for the guy from the shop to e-mail me the unlock code for my phone. Now i'm with an Orange Pre-pay sim in it.So who is my carrier ? Is it still Vodafone RO or Orange ?

If it's orange, than i doubt that they will release updates to my phone because they didin't had the phone in they're store...or on their website.
If it's Vodafone, than i need to put an Vodafone Sim in it everytime an firmware update is available ?
Thanks.

In general, a network-locked HTC handset "belongs" to the original carrier and will only accept updates that match that carrier. Regardless of current network, its s/n identifies it as a Vodafone device. The updates still come from HTC's servers though, so you don't need a particular SIM in the phone.

Hope this makes things clear?
