Help Android charging question

Newbie
I recently got an LG Revolution 4G (Verizon). All works great and no major complaints. I have learned that with all these Android phones, the battery life is something to be desired. Therefore, I figured I would keep a charger at work as well as home.

I am able to use an older Blackberry charger for my LG while charging at home. I then took the LG charger to work. Its basically a mini usb cable plugged into a LG AC adapter. The mini-usb cord that came with the Revolution was kind of short so I ordered a 6ft one online to fit my needs & thinking I could simply replace the 3ft one LG supplied.

Well, the new 6ft mini-USB cable I got doesn't seem to work with the LG USB charger. Both ends fit fine, but the phone seems to stop charging after about 1 minute. Is there something I should have looked for when replacing the LG supplied mini-USB cable.

Out of curiosity, I actually used this newer 6ft mini-USB cable to hook the Revolution up to a USB port on my XP desktop PC. It installed the needed software and everything went well there. I decided to keep it plugged in to see if it would maybe charge through the PC's USB port. It did, but it seemed SUPER slow.

At the time, I had about 42% battery juice left. Unlike before, it seemed to be charging as I saw it saw it climb to 44%. Therefore, I just kept it plugged in all night to the PC and thought it would be fully charged in the morning and before I went to work.

Well, when I went to leave the next morning and get the LG phone (charging on the desktop PC), it had only reached 73% charged. Therefore, it looked like it took 8+ hrs to only charge it 30% more.

Can somebody maybe explain the best way to charge these phones (other than the supplied adapters) & the way it works for most of them? Thanks

OK, I figured it was probably just a slower method in general. I guess I'll try to just go the route of using a wall charger of some kind if I can (vs charging via a PC).

Now, is there a reason to explain why my newer generic 6ft micro-USB cable was not working properly and not charging my Revolution through the LG USB wall adapter? I'm confused on why this was happening.

It may be because the revolution requires USB 3 (just a guess on my part). The folks here will know for sure.

Actually, I now think I may have an extra one of these laying around as well. Might have to give it a try (probably for the same reason too; longer extension for listening in bed). Thanks for the heads up.
