Android / Exchange Help

I have a sbs2003 setup and the company has a BES installed. Recently one of the users decided to go to an Android (Epic). I for some reason get an authentication error trying to connect from the phone to the exchange server. I have a self signed SSL Cert at the time and all fields seem to be good on the phone. OMA is configured (although Im pretty sure its not required for this).

Any help/suggestions would be great.

Is it an unlocked phone from another carrier/region? I had a similar problem that was driving me nuts. I am using an unlocked at&t phone in Canada. In the mail settings somewhere there is a setting to get mail while roaming. This has to be checked if you using a phone in another region because according to the phone, it is roaming out of its coverage area.
Just a shot in case it is an unlocked from a different carrier.

Are you getting any errors in the security logs on the server when the phone tries to authenticate. The self-signed cert may be causing issues as well.

Hello I administer a SBS2003 server. We too have a self signed cert. We use iPhones to connect so I know ActiveSync works just fine (I did however have to use as specialist exchange contractor, he charged $200 for guaranteed fix and it took him 10 mins, which was a little embarasing:o) ActiveSync can be a bitch. Way too many variables!
I'm awaiting delivery of my first android phone but did a test on a friend goggle nexus and it seemed fine. I do remember seeing an error in the logs the next day but it worked anyway? I'll do another test over the next few days and tell you how I got on.:)

ok, quick update.

This is not an unlocked phone. This is a sprint Epic. I have since purchased an SSL Cert from GoDaddy and im getting the following error from the phone:

Setup could not finish:
Username or Password incorrect.
(authentication failed)

unfortunately since I installed my cert I no longer have access to RWW. So im going backwards here.

Thanks

Well I had a good chance to test it last night and it works fully with a self signed cert. So you can count that one out. Sonds like you need to re-trace your steps. As it's SBS remember to do all changes through the wizards!:)
