I would gladly risk whatever minimal securiity risk is supposedly present as it doesn't seem to be an issue on any other forum I visit. There is minimal effort required in enabling it.
I mean this as nicely and sincerely a possible.
You and I are users of the forum and we both use it for pleasure. If a regular user's account gets compromised, the effect falls on only the one user. If my account were to be compromised, every user's account and identity is compromised.
The ADMIN of this site is very active here. If his account was compromised..., I'd imagine that the forums would be down for ALL of us for quite some time.
The OWNER of the site pays the bills. I'm sure he owns the site in hopes of making money. If his account was compromised it could be a disaster for him personally and financially. Additionally, the forums could essentially cease to exist.
The admin and owner were both the target of the attacks as result of the security flaw (see risk assessment above).
Sure, it's possible that nothing could have happened. It's possible that something could have happened too. Like most people who lock their cars and houses, they felt the need to lock the risk that tapatalk presented at the time.
Since then, they have created their own app (that I'm sure cost them a bit of money to create and develop) that is FREE and of NO CHARGE to view the forums AND post on the forums. The app is also ad-free. The phandroid app is available for free on the market if you chose to download it.
While I personally have no monetary interest or benefit from the removal or installment of tapatalk, I think that the owner made the decision that he deemed best for the forum as a whole.
