Android Forums "Tapatalk" Like App

Any news on this???? Why not enable Tapatalk in the mean time and switch to the app once its available, its annoying to have to check it on a small screen not so Mobile Friendly site.... PLEASE RELEASE!

A security risk / issue was realised on the tappatalk app. Peoples accounts were being misused somehow I believe. It was better in the gap to have no app rather than an unsecure app.

The phandroid app we have now is pretty good.

If we want to use tapatalk we should have the option. If people don't want to use it they don't have to. It is really annoying having this be my only forum without support for tapatalk. I visit much less often because of it. I don't want to have a separate app for every forum. I would gladly risk whatever minimal securiity risk is supposedly present as it doesn't seem to be an issue on any other forum I visit. There is minimal effort required in enabling it.

The discovered security risk is to the site more than to an individual member; it was important enough to warrant quite a hassle and creation of an app.

Never say never on the return of Tapatalk here, but the need for it seems much less now that Phandroid App is with us.

I mean this as nicely and sincerely a possible. :)

You and I are users of the forum and we both use it for pleasure. If a regular user's account gets compromised, the effect falls on only the one user. If my account were to be compromised, every user's account and identity is compromised.

The ADMIN of this site is very active here. If his account was compromised..., I'd imagine that the forums would be down for ALL of us for quite some time.

The OWNER of the site pays the bills. I'm sure he owns the site in hopes of making money. If his account was compromised it could be a disaster for him personally and financially. Additionally, the forums could essentially cease to exist.

The admin and owner were both the target of the attacks as result of the security flaw (see risk assessment above).

Sure, it's possible that nothing could have happened. It's possible that something could have happened too. Like most people who lock their cars and houses, they felt the need to lock the risk that tapatalk presented at the time.

Since then, they have created their own app (that I'm sure cost them a bit of money to create and develop) that is FREE and of NO CHARGE to view the forums AND post on the forums. The app is also ad-free. The phandroid app is available for free on the market if you chose to download it.

While I personally have no monetary interest or benefit from the removal or installment of tapatalk, I think that the owner made the decision that he deemed best for the forum as a whole.

Another thing you're not realizing is that it is not just a matter of blocking access to the forums in Tapatalk. You have to understand that there is forum modification required to make Tapatalk work with the forums.

For more info, please see Tapatalk - Forum App on the iPhone, Android, Nokia, and BlackBerry for vBulletin, phpBB, IPBoard, and SMF

It is from this modification that the security risk was exposed. In order to lock down the security risk, the integration of the plugin had to be removed. And without integration, Tapatalk cannot access the forums.

I hope this makes it more clear as to why it's not just a matter of "If we want to use tapatalk we should have the option."

Can we get Tapatalk support? I don't see why the most popular app isn't supported here... who needs another forum app installed on their phone? If every forum did that what a mess!
