Help Android Google Voice Application Issues a GV# But..

Lurker
I just downloaded the Android Google Voice app onto my newly Rooted (UnRevoked. Thank you

) Evo 4g.

Everything is seamless, But I noticed that the app issued a new GV number, so I didn't have to use my existing GV number which I have had for a few months.
I would have liked to substitute the newly issued GV number for the GV number I have been using.

One thing I noticed though is that if I dial the newly issued GV number via the keypad, I get a message that says to please check the number and dial again (or something to that effect.) It appears that the GV number which was immediately issued by downloading the Android application can only be utilized directly through the application.

I would like to use my previous GV# number with the seamless Android GV application. Is this possible?

Aso, I have not read anywhere that the Android GV# app issues a new GV # upon download.

I didn't have to set up a profile online, and i have no access online to this New GV#.
It looks as though it can only be used via the Evo's integration with the Android GV Application.

I can manually input my original GV number but i would not have the integration as with the app.

It derives your GV number by your google login and it doesn't make up anything. You have to go in the settings and login if it didn't do it automatically for you.

I have found out that the GV app for Android dials out on a generated number which can be static, or change, and is the access number that is used to access your personal GV #. This app generated# is the number that shows up on your Cellular invoice, and not your personal GV #,

Yes. This is not news and that's how it works on all the different OS's, not just android. I don't know what this has to do with your original problem.

At the time of the orig. post, I didn't realize that GV used a generic GV access number to dial out, that IS using the personal GV # I received awhile ago.
While this is widely known as you say, it was not to me until I researched the
auto generated GV access number.
I thought that was a new GV number that was being issued, that exempted my orig. GV #.
The above was explained in my first post, as my original issue, so I am unsure what you mean by "I don't know what this has to do with your original problem."

Anyway, the issue is resolved.
