Help Android GUI Change

Hello.

I would like to start out I'm new to android and this is Probably really stupid question...

I flashed my Nexus 10 to a factory image. (https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images?hl=en) I used this bootloader: http://androidforums.com/threads/adb-guide-updated-2014-11-11.443072/

After everything was set and I rebooted nothing looks the same! The lock screen, the slide down menus, the home and back buttons are now a triangle square and circle, etc.

I cant find a solution or know what to search for on google. Can someone please tell me whats going on and how to fix it?

Thanks. :)

It sounds like you were probably on a previous version of android (probably KitKat) and flashed the factory image for an updated version (lollipop). If you really don't want the update, you will probably need to flash the factory images for an older version of android.

All the available images for your device are here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images?hl=en#mantaray

If you want to go back to KitKat you'll probably want the 4.4.4 factory images. Though there have been several crucial security updates with the newer versions of android. You may consider giving it a fair run and see if the update grows on you. KitKat was a great android version, but lollipop is pretty darn good as well.

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated.

I think you are right. But here is what confused me: On my old device I upgraded to 5.0.1. But it looked like the "KitKat" interface, so to speak. Any ideas?

Thanks

That's interesting... 5.0.1 is Lollipop and should have looked the same as what you described in your original post. If you were on 5.0.1 and it looked like KitKat, I honestly don't know what to say. I'm not sure how that could even happen.

You could flash the 5.0.1 images from the link in my last post and see if it's what you are looking for.

May depend on what the old device was. If its UI had been skinned by a manufacturer then it might have changed less radically when updating to Lollipop than a vanilla device did.

Good point! But I think he was referring to his Nexus 10, which would be some of that sweet 'nilla goodness.

He was in the first post, but that last one referred to his "old device" not changing UI much when updating to Lollipop, whereas the N10 had, so I assumed the other device was something else.

I should have been more specific. My "old device" is my Nexus 10.. what I meant was my old looking device. I apologize for the miscommunication. I am going to flash to KitKat and the links you posted just to see what happens to solve me curiosity. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks everyone!
