According to the South Korean commercials, it's definitely a male. Their version of the female Droid has a little bow on the top. Why cant Google make their own commercials about Android OS and actually make the little buddy have a spunky and fun personality like the South Koreans do?

In my opinion, I think "Andy" is a stupid name. I think his
Name should be Droider or droy. Andy is just not a cool
Name at all.

He always looked more like a bug to me (ironic as early versions were chock full of 'em) or R2D2 (Hello, George Lucas lawsuit!) But more likely he's a copy of an old Atari Lynx character
