Android Live Scores

As others have mentioned, a customized alert sound would be nice. But since every other app I use allows for a unique notification, that makes for a real simple workaround. I set the default android notification to the one that I want for Sportacular and then customize all others accordingly. Ta da, dishes done!

No posts here and no app updates, at this point I have it on my phone because it seems like the best app, but still missing a lot.

I hope this app is updated soon or there is a better app available.

While we're talking about other sports app. The only one that comes close to Sportacular is ScoreMobile. ScoreMobile offers just about every kind of stat you can think of. Where the only stats that I can see is MLB (and that looks a mess) and NBA (you can only see the stats on the 'Starting 5', also the NHL (I only see stats when you tap a players' picture who made that '3 Stars of the Game)They also offer coverage of a few leagues that aren't available on Sportacular. (*COUGH - MLS*) But J.Holmes already addressed that. They also offer text alerts, telling me who scored in the alert AND what the score is all in the notification pulldown without pressing it. But overall, Sportacular's design and layout favor my use, I'm all about the pretty stuff for some reason. Though, I do use ScoreMobile for stats and the playoff standings and playoff schedules for each series.

All we need are stats for all sports, scoring summaries in the 'Game Details' screen for all sports (SIMILAR TO WHAT SPORTSTAP HAS), and a revamp of the standings to include conference standings for playoff positioning purposes. And lastly, PUSH ALERTS :-D that was already addressed also.

Sportacular's Game Details is ALWAYS right on the dot with ScoreCenter from ESPN which is freaking awesome.

****BTW Aaron, I do have a bug.... my vibrate won't work. The option is checked and I've tried to uninstall and reinstall with no luck. :(

The Score widget takes up two rows and it's ugly. That's the main reason I dropped it.

ESPN FINALLY added score alerts today.

Unfortunately, they don't provide a way to disable the audio/vibrate alert, so it's a big fail in my mind. How could they not think that was a must feature?

Anyhow, anything new on the horizon here?

Anyone still here?

I think we are teetering on abandon ware at this point.

Anyhow, during mlb games, it says stats are unavailable. Once game ends, i get stats. Anyone else seeing this behavior?

I switched to ESPN since they added push alerts. I need my score alerts to have a different sound.

I am really liking ESPN

I tried ESPN once and the updates were nice, but there's no way to turn off the vibrate and sound notifications.

What were they thinking not including that ability? I just want notification light notifications. I don't care about the 3rd Quarter score in a Knicks game at midnight if they are on the West Coast. I don't want my phone making noise for that.

I'd probably switch to ESPN if they added that ability.

I do like the Yahoo widget and scoreboards once in the app though.

Can someone who uses Yahoo confirm that baseball stats, while game is in progress, are not working?

EDIT: Wait, if you are changing the notification sound, it's obviously possible to set it to silent. I don't see that setting though. Where is it? Can you disable vibration too?

I don't change the sound, ESPN just has its own sound. I just hated that sportacular used the default notification sound

Got it.

I don't get how espn didn't include a way to disable sound and vibrate. How could you not think of that?

I don't know, but a couple weeks ago I discovered "Light Flow." It is an app that will take control of your notifications and allow you to change sounds, vibrations, and LEDs for notifications. You could give that a shot.

My two cents....

I have both the ScoreMobile app and the ESPN app. I love the ScoreMobile app. I have it on both my HTC EVO and on my Blackberry I use for work. I have even recommend the app to friends.

As for my opinion of the ESPN Scorecenter app, while I still have it (for now), I do not use it much. In face because I don't use the ESPN app much and I am running out of hard drive space on my phone (down to 45 MB), I am considering deleting it

I am 99.9% sure that you're not seeing stats DURING the game because it's still spring training. Everything that is offered during Spring Training is always going to be less just because there isn't a whole lot of live coverage of the games. Therefore, you get your stats afterwards.

Once the season starts, I am almost positive that you will see the stats and all during the game.

Good app. It is the best app for live scores, but i suggest add the latest news and updates on your app too. This will let the users to know the top stories on the home screen of the app.

That's what I was thinking. Can you confirm this behavior?

Also, I wonder if Aaron Harris is no longer on the team. I'm getting really worthless replies back from the "support" team.

I think this app is almost down for the count.

If ESPN provided a way to not have audio/vibrate alerts, I'd be there. There's also something I didn't like about Scoremobile's alerts.

Hello,

Thank you for writing to Citizen Sports.

I understand that you are unable to see the stats during the game but
once the game ends it appears on your Sportacular app through your
Android device. I apologize for the inconvenience this issue has caused
you. I am glad to assist you with your concern.

It's possible that the browser or app cache is causing slow updates. The
app requires available memory to function correctly. To clear the app
cache:

1. Select the "Settings" feature on your phone.

2. Tap "Applications," then select "Manage applications." You will be
shown a list of applications.

3. Select "Sportacular." You will be offered several options to manage
the app on the next page.

4. Select "Clear Cache," then confirm the choice. To clear the browser
cache, you should be able to access the installed browser from your
desktop.

5. Select "Menu" button, then select "More."

6. Select "Settings" under the list of options.

7. Scroll down until you see the options to Clear Cache.

8. Select the options "Clear all cookie data" and "Clear History" to
free up additional memory. Make sure to confirm each selection.

I hope this helps!

If that didn't work, they said to send some additional device/system info.

Any further dev or thoughts on this app?
from what I've gathered reading thru this whole thread is that it should be just what I'm looking for & also that it seems, I may be going out on a limb here, that chrlswltrs might possibly like to choose different alert tones (I think)

;) lol
headed to DL this..
