Hey so it looks like you are well-versed in Android and I was hoping you could help me. I have been posting questions but it seems as there aren't many responses. If you are able to help me with any of these, I would greatly appreciate it:

1) So with G-mail, I have like 500 contacts as it creates a contact for everyone I have ever e-mailed. IF I sync my Google Contacts with the Magic, is it going to add all of those to my phonebook? If not, will the mail app search through people I have previously e-mailed when composing like the desktop version does?

2) With CupCake, can you install applications to the SD card? If not, how many applications are you guys able to fit? Obviously I know it varies on app size, just curious.

3) When putting my AT&T sim into an unlocked Roger's Magic, will I need to configure the internet settings or will it for me?

4) The big question... CAN I ROOT THE ROGERS MAGIC. On 3 forums, I have gotten 100 different answers. If so, where do I get the information? I have been reading XDA and some people say yes and others say the image isn't available yet.

5) If I root it, what ROM should I go with? Are any of them really advantageous? I don't want the unit to slow down at all and I read that happens with the Hero ROM.

6) What do I need to do to install apps to the SD Card?

I really appreciate your help in advanced.

As i dont have a MAGIC ... maybe, Hopping some Magic users can help the above poster with his questions ...

1) Go on GMail, and go to Contacts. You'll likely see a bunch of pre-made groups. There should be one called My Contacts. What I did was move the ones I wanted on my phone into there. Then from the phone, go into contacts, menu->Edit sync groups, and you can pick which groups get synced to your phone. I have only My Contacts selected, but I can't remember if it selects all of them by default or not.

2) No. There are some applications that will let you, but I haven't used any of them yet. I haven't run into any problems with storage space yet, but I only have a handful of applications installed.

3) Not sure. I'm using a Rogers Magic on Rogers, so it was done by default. I would imagine it should select the APN settings stored on the SIM, but I'm not certain. If not, you can enter them manually fairly easily.

4) Not yet. There was a fund to raise money to buy Hayruko (I think?), the guy who rooted the T-Mo G1 a Rogers Dream. They mailed it to him a few days ago, and he's going to work on rooting it. The same method should work for the Magic as well, when he figures it out.

5) No idea, yet.

6) See 2.
