Android Market Gmail Association

BLACKTOOTHGRIN

This may be something that others have knows all along,
but it has made me tear my hair out over the past couple weeks:

Your phone obviously lets you have more than one gmail account on it,
but the problem that I was having is that whenever I added another gmail address,
the Market App always wanted to use the latest address added as it's primary
address to link the phone and downloaded apps to.
I called Verizon tech support about this.
Here is what the Tier 2 support rep told me:
"You can only have one gmail address associated with your phone.
If you add more than one the phone automatically replaces it, and nothing can be done about it"

They also said the only way you could successfully use more than one gmail address
on an Android phone would to be to create POP email accounts for the rest.
BULLSH*T!!
Once again, Verizon Reps spout off nonsense.
I so love the "tech support" over there.

After playing around with it for a while,
I found that there IS a setting that will allow you to control which
gmail address gets used by default for your app downloads.
That setting is in the "Market" app itself.
Go into your market app, select menu, then accounts.
It will bring up all your gmail accounts associated with your phone,
and you can select any of them to be the default.

Pretty simple huh?
I felt like such a d*^#head when I saw that.
For some stupid reason I kept thinking if there were a setting for that,
it would be somewhere in the Accounts & Sync section,
or within your gmail account settings.
Awe well, at least I found it eventually. :o

I hope this helps someone else out before they get as angry as I did. ;)
....and thanks again Verizon for not knowing JACK SH*T about the devises you sell!

Hmm, didn't know nothing about it. I had to setup the Gmail account when i got the phone setup, but i never use it for anything. I use K9 Mail with my ISP email accounts.

Well man I only have one g mail but I remember that question coming up in a different thread and I had no idea. Nice leg work on that one.
