Help Android Market question

With my last phone the HTC Desire running Eclair, after around 6 months or so i was having great difficulty downloading or updating apps from the android market. What was happening was, when i tapped on the screen to install an app, it would say (downloading paused), and then (downloading cancellled) or words to that effect, all in around a couple of seconds. I had tried clearing the cache in the market...switched my phone off but all to no avail. This problem continued untill i decided to do a factory reset and then all was fine, till around 3 months later and then the same thing happend again.

I now have a Sony Ericsson Arc, and so far i have not encountered this problem, but it is in the back of my mind that this could happen again to me again at some point with my new phone. Is there any steps i can take for this not to happen to my new phone. I make sure i clear the cache every time i download a new app or update one, but is there anything else i need to be aware of or that i can do to stop this from happening??

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Don't fret over it unless you have trouble. What you experienced wasn't the norm. You don't need to clear cache for every app download.

I am not fretting, but if it's happened before to me and more than once what is to say it wont happen with my Arc?? This was the one thing that ruined my whole experience with Android and my Desire at the time.

I just would like to know what possibly caused this to happen to me twice, and what preventitive measures can you take from it happening to my new phone
