Android(?) May Have Hurt My Phone

I woke up this AM to find the attached screen.
I don't think I did anything to cause this.
However, yesterday I got some message about new Android features.
I looked at the message and it was about some AI stuff. Four items in all.
I have no interest in any of them.

Is that what caused this problem?
If so, how do I remove them.
I have my phone (Sony Xperia C....2018 model) set to not automatically update.

I'm amazed when people come on here and still have phones that are 5 plus years old and still actually work. Seems like 3 years is the max these days before the phone is slow as molasses or the battery is trash.
Talking of ancient Sonys, my father still uses a Sony Xperia something-or-other he's had for at least 10 years, that's falling apart and is been held together by the protective case.. He only uses it for phone calls and WhatsApp, but I've been telling him to treat himself and replace it. He may get an early Xmas present.

I still use a Huawei Mate 10 I've had for six years, and it's still running great, battery life is still good, although it is my secondary phone now.

Well, this phone was perfect for me until "android" did something to it the night before last.
Why do I have to make changes, uninstall stuff I use because some software "weinnee" though I should try their useless crap.
Maybe you can tell I am pi$$ed over this intrusion on my life!

this is how technology works. every year android gets bigger, faster, and more secure with updates. software improves at such a rate that hardware can't keep up. it is what it is. i usually upgrade every other year or so. it never keep a phone past 3 years.

unfortunately for you, there is not much you can do. you might look into rooting the phone and try some custom roms that might help in making your phone run better......provided the developers are still making their roms available.

Could be your apps got updated. Some apps insist you have the latest versions to use them.

That's how it is with technology, especially if living your life online with it. Same with smart-phones as it is with computers.

My father with his antique Sony Xperia, if he wants to do anything other than phone calls and basic messaging with it, he's gonna have to get a new smart-phone. I'm only using my old Huawei phone for phone calls for the while I'm in the UK. For everything else I'm using my more capable Samsung Note20 Ultra.

I already commented that 4GB wasn't much internal storage for an Android smart-phone back in 2013. My first Android smart-phone in 2010 had 16GB, which for my uses now in 2024 only 16GB would be impossible to have.
