Hello,
Today I received my R2-D2 Android phone. I've been using an iPod touch for over a year. I have several apps that I use quite a lot, but I can only use them when I have a WiFi connection. I had hoped that an iPhone might be available on Verizon. But after a lot of reading and researching, I decided that there are enough apps in the Android market now to do most of what I want to do. I'm looking forward to learning more about the Android OS and the apps available for it. Professionally, I work with a lot of SQL databases, write macros in AutoHotKey, and some other techie stuff. I also build my own computers at home.
The R2-D2 phone was an easy choice for me. I am a member of the 501st Legion and Rebel Legion. Both are Star Wars costuming organizations. Are we the geeks who dress up at sci-fi conventions? Well yes. But we also do a lot of other charity events in costume like walk-a-thons, Toys-for_Tots, hospital visits, and more. Kids (of all ages) get a big thrill out of meeting their favorite movie characters. I got to see the R2-D2 phone first hand this summer at Star Wars Celebration V in Orlando.
Here are just a couple pics of me from various Star Wars events we've participated in:
Walk now for Autism
Marcon
Toys-for-Tots collection
