Root Android OS On LG

Does anyone know who makes Android OS. I know Microsoft makes windows, which is sold on Dells, Gateways, and HP etc. I have been in an on going battle with Verizon and LG of who makes the operating system for my phone. Verizon says LG is responsible and LG says its Verizon's responsibility. MOST IMPORTANTLY does anyone know how to get the latest version of android on the LG Revolution or how to root it?

Google writes the Android OS, LG modify it to suit their hardware & apply their own 'skin' & the network provider adds it's own apps, boot image etc so it is a collaboration really.

As for rooting & software updates for your phone system I would suggest you visit the LG Revolution Root Forum if that is your device. There will no doubt be someone there who can best answer your questions.

unfortunately at this point there is not way to upgrade from gingerbread. there is a CM10 (android 4.1 jelly bean) in the works for the Esteem (the revo on metropcs) but it still has some magor bugs and wont be ported over to the revo until it works on the esteem (to my knowledge)
