Android Phone 7 Theme

Desktop Visualizer really does nothing but place widgets. It's not even an actively running app. I've never had a problem with it.

Running multiple launchers would definitely bog the system down. Deep-six what you're not using. That should do it.

haha..i like that.."deep-six"..unfortunatey, i already deleted over 20 apps and this baby continues to get hot..could possibly be the other launchers..may delete them as well thx

Never heard of any launcher causing the system to heat up... Probably the phone itself is malfunctioning..?

In my own little way... yes.

But maybe I'll celebrate by creating some new Android7 icons. Perhaps I'll finally finish the 50's style or pinup girls.

I really like your 50s Style ones Paul MZ, actually, everythig you do is all kinds of awesome. I've been experimenting with Gimp(totaly Gimp newb) to make family icons and it's been a time consuming learning experience. Still it's been fun and I can't wait to show it to my sister so I can redo her phone desktop too :-) I made a blog entry explaining everything I did for the other really slow people. I literally spent hours trying to figure out GIMP, so I figure others can benefit from my lost hours. I went over every little step since the other awesome guide about making Android Phone 7 icons with GIMP over at How To | Android Phone 7 Icons in Gimp Android Excedio. It's more coherant then me, but there were several point when I was wondering how to do stuff the writer said to do and got lost.

i have a big doubt in this....will these changes only the icons on the desktop [Home screen] or even the menu icon can be changed ?

and one more query....

can it be done using ADW Launcher as well ? if yes can you brief me about the steps just like you did for Launcher Pro =]

Thanks in advance...if it is already posted sorry about that and help me finding that thread as well....

Desktop Visualizer only changes desktop (homescreen) icons. It does nothing with menus or anything else.

ADW and LauncherPro should work the same when using identical settings (rows/columns/etc.). Just refer to Page-1/Post-1 and you should be fine.

PS: I'm actually using ADWLauncher EX for this theme right now, although with a different row/column configuration: Android7 Layout Using ADW Launcher - Without Dock or Notification Bar. I like ADW a lot (the new continuous scrolling desktop is killer) but it crashes at least once a day still. I don't know what the problem is. I barely run anything other than Desktop Visualizer and a couple CurveFish toggles and clock/weather/battery widgets. Hopefully the issue will be fixed... soon. I didn't have any problem when I was running the free ADW launcher before. It's a shame that I paid extra for an app that is less stable.

Yes this personalization is wonderful PaulMZ, but it is way too tempting to keep changing everything. I updated the above post with revised screenshots and am truly hoping :fingers crossed: that I don't get tempted to change anything more for at least a week.

I can't believe the weekend's pretty much over and all I have to show for it was some housecleaning, a couple of books read, a short bike ride, and a lot of time spent modifying my phone. Still it's been fun.

If anyone else cannot afford a paid launcher now, I am really digging on the Go Launcher EX. The thing is that since it doesn't have the automatic resizing option(can't remember what it's called) you have to resize manually. I changed all my 3x1 widgets from 350x133 to 376x133 and should probably have gone for 376x136 to make it more perfect. I also ended up changing one of the 2x2 from 230x260 to 230x282. The weird thing is that the other 2x2 one was fine....

Oh well it's not perfect, but I'm not particularly detail-oriented I'll live with the current layout until I make some more widgets. I'm going to try to use one picture to make a page of widgets some time this week. It's just hard to focus on just one picture for it.

yeah i tried what you said by changing the rows and columns and hiding the dock and status bar.. and tried making 4 [4x1] widgets in a single screen but the widgets gets overlapped one on one or if i try to move the widget there were some huge spaces in between each =[ i am a noob in these and i got used to the adw launcher that is why i want to customize the same....can you please let me know the exact settings of the adw launcher like [screen preferences, drawer settings, general behavior, system preferences,UI settings, theme preferences etc so that i can come up with exact solution....help me...

Well, I'm not going to go through every single setting in ADW.

Here is what's important:
[UI Settings]-> [Screen Preferences]:
Desktop Columns: 4, Desktop Rows: 6, Hide Status Bar: Checked, Overlap Widgets: Unchecked.
[UI Settings]-> [Screen Preferences]-> [Advanced Settings]:
Hide Icon Labels: Checked, Auto Stretch: Checked.

That should do it. No other settings in ADW should effect this theme.

thank you buddy but i dont have the overlap widgets option instead of that there was an option called auto stretch which has to be checked so that the widgets dont over lap and i sorted it out....anyways thanks for helping me out...

now for making my own images based on the widget size what resolution does my mobile support ? i am using samsung galaxy i7500L...

From a simple Google search it looks like that device has a resolution of 320x480.
Try the dimensions here: DROID Eris Desktop Visualizer Image Dimensions.

Okay everyone... here is what I have for "Android Phone 7 Tile Widgets":

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

So far I only have the blue widgets finished, but red and green ones will follow. These widgets may also only line up perfectly on phones with a resolution of 480x800 (Incredible, etc.).

Here's the link to download the APKs:

Android7 Widgets - Blue - 480x800

Android7 Widgets - Green - 480x800

Android7 Widgets - Red - 480x800

Android7 Widgets - Blue - 320x480 (SMS Unread Count only)

Copy them onto your phone and install them using a file manager (I use Astro).

All of the widgets work (at least on my device) with notification badges on the "Phone", "Message" and "Gmail" widgets (sorry, I can't change the badge shape or color and I can't change this app from linking to the newest email instead of just going to the Inbox) as well as changing icons on the switches.

NOTE: I did not write the apps for these widgets.
The notification widgets are skinned SMS Unread Count widgets by "kanokgems".
The hotspot switch widget is Hotspot Toggle by Mehdy Bohlool.
The other switches are all CurveFish toggles.
And the battery widget is BatStat Battery Widget by Martin Eder.

If you have any other ideas for skinning 1x1, 2x1, or 1x2 widgets available for free on the Market, let me know. CurveFish toggles are pretty accomodating for reskinning, but I don't have a personal need for all of them. Also, if anyone knows of another good notifier widget for SMS, Gmail, etc., let me know.

I only reskinned the widgets. If you have any problems with these widgets, please try to download the original version for troubleshooting or contact the developer of that app.

Also, special thanks to mykela25 for turning me on to APK Manager, which made it possible to "take apart" the apps and change the images for the backgrounds, icons, etc.

Finally... this theme has been a lot of hard work...
If you like what I have done and feel compelled to show your gratitude I accept donations through PayPal:

Thank you, everyone, for following and contributing to this theme.

NOTE: Soon I will post new widget images with an updated font that matches the new Android7 Widgets.

These widgets work great PaulMZ and have introduced me to some new applications :-)

I just installed the CacheMate for Root Users Free and while it works great from the app menu and the Windows 7 style icon shows up within the application, it doesn't show up in my widgets list :-(

Has anyone else had problems with this?

Sorry. I personally do not use this widget. I made it for someone else at their request.

If anyone else could give some guidance...?

I used Desktop Visualizer to create this. All artwork was created by me. I created 55 icons for the various apps. I designed the brushed metal wallpaper to showcase the desktop dots (too see the dots, long-press one of the end dock icon slots and choose Change shortcut > Homescreens). I designed the dock background to match. Now all I need to do is design a status bar to match everything :D

Whew.. this was a lot of work.

I'd like to thank paulmz and everyone else who went through the trouble of finding the proper dimensions for the icons in LauncherPro.. and for sharing their artwork.

Is there anyway to make this brilliant idea work with Sense.
Really love Sense UI but I can not implement the same concepts. Pictures do not fit, maybe due to improper size
Has anyone succeeded in doing so please advise?

Hey,
I used Desktop Visualizer on all my Homescreens and now my "Widgetsoid"-widget doesn't look that nice anymore.
Is there any way to ose a Desktop Visualizer Shortcut as a toggle e.g. for WiFi or mobile data?

Thanks a lot!

yes, all you have to use is an APP and not a WIDGET to toggle Wifi, Bluetooth, APN... you'll find all you need in the market.

Actually, no... you cannot use Desktop Visualizer as a toggle. Desktop Visualizer is only a widget shortcut.

One thing that you can do is use APK Manager to change the widgets of existing toggles. This is how I made the Android7 Tile Widgets. They are all other developers' toggle apps that I reskinned to match.

Another option is to use an app like Beautiful Widgets, which lets you make custom graphics or images for its toggles without tearing-apart/putting-together and app with an external program. See here for examples.

Hope this helps!

Well, I use the app "toggle Wifi " to.... toggle the Wifi, then one tap on my desktop visualiser tile and voil

I found an application called Wi-Fi Switch. You can use it with Desktop Visualizer an it turns Wi-Fi on and off. Works great :D

Now i need something like this for 2G/3G, mobile data and bluetooth :p
