Root Android revolution radio problems

Well I Flashed over to Android Revolution 6.1.5, flashed to the suggested radio. But my radio coverage is crap. I am a long haul trucker so I spend a lot of time on the edge of service and know my coverage in some areas very well. I'm a with Telus on my DHD and I can be sitting there with my phone in an area I've always had coverage. It will have full bars. Then randomly I'll go to 0 bars and drop everything. Now is there a rom and radio that is better for reception? As far as the radio install I used the recomended installer on the android revolution site and it was easy... is it possible it didn't work? I tried looking at the about my phone but couln't find what radio I had... I am not super skilled at all this stuff.

You'll find your baseband (radio) version in Settings -> About Phone -> Software Information -> More.

Were you just on the stock ROM before hand?

I was stock before that. I just flashed over to CM7 now to see how I like that. I have yet to flash a radio yet if I need to?

At least now I can work apps that wouldn't run because of the incompatible device market problem :D

Oh and the fact that it's called baseband is why I couldn't figure it out lol!

So I'm on baseband 12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03M

So Is that the best option on CM7? Sorry I'm technically adequate enough to flash this but not that bright lol.

No probs! :)

That radio is fine for CM7 btw and to my knowledge not the recommended one for ARHD so that could be why you were having issues.

If you're not confident in flashing a radio, it's probably best just to leave it. A bad radio flash can leave you with a very expensive paperweight.

Oh i see my problem thanks! Yeah radio flash worries me but i have device insurance so if i brick it i just hit it with a hammer and get a new one lol!

Is it necessary to use this recommended radio for revolution hd?
I want to try it but do not know how to flash radio (I need some eng off isn't it???)
Revolution team also recommends their method for radio flash- why not to use aahk for this?
Do somebody have experience with this?
thanks

It is not set in stone that you have to use the correct radio for a ROM, it is usually just recomended by the ROM developer. I have never changed the radio myself but, as far as I am aware, it isn't that hard.

I'm not sure what you mean by "aahk"... I have seen a method on XDA... it's actually a one click tool (I think)... I will see if I can find their method and pput a link up for you... you should be able to compare the two methods then!

When flashing a radio, the main thing is to make sure that you battery is FULLY charged... even with the USB cable in the phone, it does not charge when in fastboot and, should you loose power whilst flashing a radio, you could end up bricking your phone.

It seems to me (going on what others have written on here) that it does, in some cases, make things run a little better - better reception/wifi/etc, but the majority of people are not comfortable doing a radio flash and have stuck with the stock radio and been fine. I'd suggest maybe giving it a go on your current radio and seeing what performance is like. If you're not happy, you could always look at flashing the recomended radio then!

Aahk is the advanced ace hack kit, the one click rooting tool :)

Thought it was something like that... couldn't remember what the 1st "a" stood for - guessed it was probably the hack kit though!

The AAHK is for rooting, not installing radios... check out my other link for how to flash a radio.
