Android SIM/SD security

I like my Android but I absolutely fear losing it cos you can just pull the SIM card and access the data without passwords etc.

Do any Android users here use/recommend an app for hiding the private stuff etc?

If you've got ICS or JB Android, there's an option in Settings > Security to encrypt the SD card. Pulling the SIM out shouldn't compromise the security of a device, only thing that will happen it won't be able to connect to a network. You can setup a password or PIN on the SIM as well, stop anyone using it in another phone.

For the sim, just sync all your contacts to google and wipe the sim. i dont know anyone who keeps their contacts on the sim nowadays tbh

Funky - Are the contacts stored by default with Google?

Mikedt - I presume I wont be able to access the SD card data by plugging into a PC then?

It depends on the phone where the contacts are stored by default. On my Galaxy, they were stored to the phone by default, I had to change it to save all new contacts to Google.

My Nexus doesn't even have an option to save to the phone, they're all on Google.
