Android Question

I have a Xpreia Play and I haven't gotten a software update since I got it. It is still on android 2.3 i have the 4g att model. Is there a way to just put stock android on it.

No, the ROM has to be written for the particular phone. You might find a ROM (like Cyanogen) for that phone. If you want to use AOSP (the "stock Android"), you can download the source at Downloading the Source | Android Developers (but you'll have to do some work before you can flash it to your phone).

Well, if you haven't gotten an Android update, then you do have the stock version of Android that came with your device.

However, if you're asking (like Rukbat alluded to) about a current version of Android that is not modified by the carriers (i.e., like the Nexus devices have), then you'd have to find and install a custom ROM that was built with the AOSP (stock) Android source. Compiling from source and building a custom ROM is a very daunting (but not impossible) task.

Check out our Play - All Things Root - Android Forums for additional information and if you have additional questions.

Thanks!
