Help Android system eating battery

Hi guys
I got my wildfire about 2-3 weeks ago, since today I hadn't experienced any problems, until this morning I noticed my battery level is half full (I charged the phone last night) and 97% usage of it is by android system!the only thing I did last night was changing my background (which isn't in the "HTC Wallpapers")
I killed all apps, restarted the phone and nothing happened.
when I selected a wallpaper from "HTC Wallpapers" it got back to normal.
I updated to Froyo two days after I bought the phone, could it be an OS bug?

Could be an OS bug though I've not experienced it, but I think everyone is finding different bugs. Or it could be that your background syncing is set to sync too frequently, or are you leaving wifi/mobile network on 24/7, they all drain the battery too.

PS - I like the Juventino name, forza bianconeri

It is... go to Menu - Settings - Accounts & Sync and then un-tick Auto-sync to disable it completely, or if you want to leave it on, adjust the time in between syncing to longer periods.

This will save your battery a lot, I get 2 days from mine easily with auto-sync disabled.

Sempre e solo la nostra Juve ;)

It was already disabled
It doesn't make any sense! the only difference between getting 2-3 days of charge and just 12 hours in standby mode is the picture I choose for my background :D

Changing a picture defintley shouldn't make that much difference to the battery life unless... it's a 'live' wallpaper with moving images, but even then it still shouldn't make so much difference.

My Android System battery usage is never usually more than about 20-25%, Cell Standby is usually highest for me around 40%, you haven't downloaded any apps in the last day or two have you? Could be a faulty app that keeps running away in the background?

It's not a live wallpaper
I just tested again, changed the wallpaper and the battery use by android system went up 7% in like 2 minutes!

I downloaded a bunch of graphers and calculators a few days back but none of them are running in the background (according to advanced task killer)

Could it be the size of the picture? it's not huge though, just 98 KB,I just noticed changing the wallpaper put a little delay in phone's response as well (scrolling in menu and going through home screens)
