Help Android Update: Contacts Deleted!

Today I updated my Android after I got a notification of a software update being available. A few hours later I went to make a call and realised that all my contacts have been deleted! I have synced with Facebook but few of my FB contacts have their phone numbers on there and many of the contacts I lost weren't on FB in the first place so I'm missing a big chunk of my contacts. My SIM and Phone both show 0 contacts! Is there any way back from this?

It usually also syncs with Google mail. See if you can retreive it from there

Strangely there are 2 contacts from my phone in my google account. I have no idea why those 2 contacts and not any others and, in accordance with Sods Law, they are 2 numbers which have little value to me, lol. As Douglas Adams said "We just want stuff that works, but they keep giving us technology."
