Android update

I currently own a HTC Wildfire Android version 2.3.5. I wish to use it for Mobile POS but I understand I have to have Android version 4.0 for this usage. Two questions, is this so and can my HTC Wildfire cope with this upgrade.

I dont think the phone can be upgraded to 4.0. Check in here for more info though.

Im heared if u root ur phone things can happen that are not suppose to hmmmm root root.root lol

Not sure if the Wildfire can handle Android 4.0, as its a very outdated phone and hardware.
