Read a news a couple days back. China won't be getting the Nexus 7 as the government has denied access to the tablet. This is in response to Google's denial of following censorship rules back in 2012. Global sales globally would have been 8 million if that didn't happen. Now it will only be around 3.5 million!

According to the Chinese, Taiwan is part of the Republic of China. ASUS is based in Taiwan. Does that mean they can't sell it in the country it's made?

I wouldn't tell any Taiwanese person that they are part of China, I don't think they would take it very well.
Sounds about right. When google did that, they said they knew it would cut into their profits, but probably didn't realize the future loss as well.
It is funny that the tablet is made by Asus, which is so close to china, but doesn't have as much repression, but still is influenced by china's repressive regime
